We at Atlantic Street Center are so grateful to have had Em as a part of our organization.  Her impact on youth and families here was profound and we are saddened that the world has lost a true advocate and maverick.  She leaves a great legacy of dedicated service within our organization.  Our deepest condolences go out to her family and loved ones.

Scout was one of my angels in disguise on earth. She was my biggest fan. She believed in me sooo damn much!!! Everyday I thank my greater power for blessing me for having her in my life.... She made a huge difference in my life and a part of her will be with me forevermore.

As I read through the many heartfelt tributes to my cousin, I realize just how remarkable they were—loved by all and deeply committed to their community. It warms my heart to have had a cousin so dedicated and passionate. We are incredibly proud of them and all they achieved, as well as the values they upheld so strongly. Their life and convictions inspire me greatly. We will ensure that their memory lives on through our actions and in our hearts. 🤍✨ — with Em, Sam Carr and Adèle

Dear Em, thank you for your friendship, all the talks, laughs, hugs, stories and time spent at Takodah, specially during our mini camp session at North Camp. You touched the lives of many people at Camp, and we were lucky and blessed to have known you. You are forever loved and eternally missed my friend 🤍
Quelle triste nouvelle. J'ai eu Emilie dans ma classe de français à Carlisle. Iel était si intelligente, curieuse et douée pour les langues! Mes condoléances à toute votre famille. (What sad news. I write for my family, Em, as we will always remember you - the big sister, daughter, next door neighbor, and avid reader that we were fortunate to spend time with.  We only came to know a small part of the beauty that you gave to so many others.  We send our deep care to your parents, Sam, and Juliette, and the many, many people who have loved you deeply. Always in our hearts. Muffy.

Scout and I met writing creative fiction together. We used to exchange song recommendations to create thematic playlists for different scenes or character dynamics we explored. This was one of my favorites from them. They were a breathtakingly gifted writer.

One of my favorite gremlins to ever gremlin. Scout was brilliant, compassionate, wicked funny, and a little trickster. I will miss their mischief most of all.

I am heartbroken to hear about Em's passing. Em was my student at Carlisle Public Schools when they were in 8th grade. I remember their depth, sensitivity and empathy and their profound desire for social justice even then. Em was an old soul who was not afraid to express their wisdom. To Em's loved ones -- hold each other close. I mourn with you.

I taught Em when they were a 9th Grader at CCHS…2007?…I was super impressed by their humor and wisdom beyond their years.  I always hoped I’d teach them again but was psyched to hear they were going to Oberlin, my Alma mater - it seemed like a good fit.  I’m sorry Em has left us- it is nice to see their sweet photos with friends over the years and read about the many ways they tried to help ease others pain while living boldly and authentically.

I feel so fortunate to have worked alongside Em for our Best Starts for Kids project. Em had an ability to connect with people that was special, and their passion and commitment to high-quality, community-based work was clear in everything they did. One of my favorite (reoccurring, thankfully) memories was when Em's cat would appear during our Teams calls because as Em explained, they were drawn to Meredith's voice. It was a moment to pause,  to laugh,  to connect and I'll fondly remember those moments of warmth and humanity. Sending my condolences to Em's loved ones.
