It kind of amazing this email about his passing came today.

My Dad, Leon Sefton coached Elton. He was one of my dad's favorite players due to his sense of humor, respectful nature, and as my Dad would say " a good solid kid". I think it was amazing he became a Coach and I know my Dad is proud. I am not saying this because it was my father's influence. But rather Elton was the kind of man my Dad would respect in the profession.

In our culture, few positions have the ability to impact, change and make a difference in a kid's life as a Coach. Elton from what I can see on this page did that.

Coach - know you are missed.

Loved our time together at the police department, raising our children, coaching together, and taking family vacations together. You always had my back. Forever grateful. Until we meet again. Love you brother. Ron Schroeder
Hi Blanchard Family,

My heart breaks for the loss of Mr. Blanchard. This obituary describes him so well. He was a wonderful and kind man and so so funny! Such a delight to be around and always lifted my spirits. Not to mention the hilarity of the constant banter between Mr. and Mrs. Blanchard and the guys!

I'm glad to say I also learned much about his earlier life while reading his obit and it is surely inspiring. Sending so much love to all of you right now and always as you search for your new normal. I will see you at the memorial service if people are allowed at that time.

Love to you all. Will be praying fervently as well.

Always had a smile on his face whenever you saw him, really it was more of a mischievous grin and a twinkle in his eye! Love you Gaty and family!
We first met Elton and Gaty when our son played on Elton's little league baseball team with Casey. Elton later became one of my late husband's (Rob Hasson's) best friends after accepting Rob's invitation to teach and coach at Park View. Elton was one of the most down-to-earth, kindest, caring men Rob and I ever met. I'm so grateful to Elton for his friendship to Rob, especially when Rob dealt with some very stressful moments in his Principalship and when Rob was diagnosed with a pre-cancerous blood disease unbeknownst to most of his PISD colleagues. Elton remained a caring, supportive confidant for Rob as he monitored the disease for 4 years in secret and while he dealt with the devastating news that it had progressed to an incurable cancer. Elton was a daily bright light in Rob's life as well as for the many children that passed thru Elton's classroom and gym. Together, Rob and Elton were a pair of comedians and spread a positive, vibrant spirit to the faculty of Park View Intermediate. My heart goes out to you, Gaty, Casey, Patrick, and your families. I pray you continually find the same joy my kids and I have experienced in reminiscing over family memories. The best friends are back together. Love you!
Elton was the kindest person in high school - Sam Rayburn class of ‘75. Gaty, thank you for sharing his life through this obituary. Praying for you and your family!
Where to start... well I'll grant you I've had more than my share of sad moments. Life passes most people by while they're making grand plans for it. Throughout my lifetime, I've left pieces of my heart here and there. And now, there's still enough to stay alive. But I force a smile, knowing that my ambition far exceeded my talent. Coach Blanchard was a great man he loved all of students and athletes whether they were big or small. He means a lot to us (athletes) that went through Parkview Athletics! There are no more “motivational seminars” or games to played. He fought the good fight and lived life to the fullest! Coach Blanchard you are “The GOAT (Greatest Of All Time)”. I don’t want to say goodbye because I know we’ll all meet up afterwards in another place!

Elton was married to my dearest cousin Cissy. He was always so kind. I will always remember his kind heart. He will truly be missed. He has left a beautiful legacy behind, Especially leaving behind a beautiful family. Rest In Peace Elton. My thoughts and prayers are with Cissy and his boys and his entire family. Love y’all ❤️😊
I have had the privilege to call Elton my friend since high school and the day he and Gaty started dating! What an amazing person who turned out to be the most wonderful husband, father, grandpa and public servant through his careers as a Houston police officer and teacher/coach! He currently leaves a void in all of our hearts, but will always be our inspiration to be our best!!! Love and hugs from Lori and Jim Kretchman
Elton was a kind, caring individual who loved his wife and boys deeply. His positive influence on young men and women in the school setting was second to none. If you needed something friend or stranger, no matter what it was he was there to help. You will be sorely missed Elton.
He was the best uncle and Godfather I could ask for. Always there when I needed him. I remember getting stuck on the ship channel bridge on the very top and he and Cissy came and stayed with me until I was safe. That’s the kind of person Elton was. I love and miss him dearly.
Coach Blanchard had Integrity and commitment to community that is unmatched. Loved his students and coworkers well.

Mr. Blanchard was great coach and taught me a lot about football and being a man. He was tough on me when he needed to be but also quick with a kind word and good advice. Rest in peace Coach and know that you did a lot of good for a lot of young people.
