It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Elmer E. Dow, born on March 16, 1959, who left us on April 17, 2024. A man of faith, discipline, and caring nature, Elmer's life was a testament to his resilience and his commitment to his loved ones and to God.
Elmer is survived by his loving wife, Marie Dow, and his two cherished daughters, Hannah Rivas (m. Joel) and Naomi Dow. His sister, Edith Conrad (m. Arthur) and his nieces, Rebecca Browning (m. Timothy) and Bethany Vincent (m. Darren) also survive him. Elmer was predeceased by his father, Elmer Orchard Dow, his mother, Eleanor May Dow, and his nephew, Nathaniel Conrad. Their memories remained close to his heart until his final days.
Elmer's early days were spent at Worcester Seventh-day Adventist Church School in Worcester, MA and Pioneer Valley Academy, New Braintree, MA, where he graduated high school in 1977. He furthered his education at Walla Walla College, College Place, WA, graduating in 1985. His academic pursuits laid the groundwork for his contribution as the special publications editor at Walla Walla Union-Bulletin. His dedication to Christ led him to serve as pastor in the Montana Conference of Seventh-day Adventists of the Lewistown/Roundup district and later as pastor of the Havre/Fort Belknap/ Shelby district.
Elmer was a man of many interests, from walking and hiking to home improvement projects. He had a fondness for Linex computer systems and held a deep passion for automobile history and repair. His membership to the Society of Automotive Historians highlighted his dedication to this area.
Remembered by many as caring, persistent, punctual, and organized, Elmer embraced a life of service, both towards his family and community. His legacy will forever be a symbol of his faith — a legacy of Christ. He truly embodied his faith in God and shared His love with all those around him.
