My sister and I knew Elmer from when he was the manager of a Urich " BEN HUR " station in Lemon Grove, California, starting in early 1960, when our father, Tom, went to work with Elmer on his crew. We occasionally would see him in and around Whittier, California, where we all lived at the time, between 1966 to 1968. Our Uncle William, Dad's brother was already working with Elmer, and my sister and I eventually went to work for Urich as well, my sister at the company hardware store, and I at the original Urich station there in Whittier. Elmer lost his beloved Shirley to cancer in 1976, and I remember her as a smoker, but a real good mom and friend. MAY YOU, ELMER REST IN PEACE, WITH SHIRLEY...YOU BOTH WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
