Helping hands

In lieu of flowers

In lieu of flowers, consider a gift to National Prion Disease Pathology Surveillance Center.
Here is the video that we shared at Elliot's memorial service.
I am truly sorry for your family's loss. I played ball with Elliot for quite a few years. He was a great teammate and really just a nice man. He will be missed by all.
Sorry I cannot attend the memorial.
Sincerely
Brian Berkowitz

I never knew Elliot was an accomplished accordion player, but I did know he was an excellent softball, tennis and poker player. I enjoyed all those activities with him. We are all missing him graciously hosting the weekly poker game, his competitive spirit on the baseball field and our weekly doubles tennis battles. I particularly miss going to Duffy's or Lilo's after tennis and talking about the match or softball or just life in general. He was a great listener and advisor and we shared many laughs together. It still is a shock that this man who came back from several bouts of cancer so strong and active was taken away so suddenly and way too early.
Elliot had a heart of gold, always wanting the best for others, he made sure you were okay , before himself. He was never one to complain, he just got things done, never had an excuse about anything. You wanted to be his teammate , he left everything on the field for his team. Always hustling , making others play better with his hard work. We will miss you buddy, the Man upstairs has a place for you on his roster.
Elliot...though I only knew you briefly in the PBSSA softball league. I know a little bit about chemotherapy and fighting cancer. Your story inspires me. Everytime your name is mentioned it is always with respect and fondness. My only regret is not getting the opportunity to know you better.

Elliot was a good man and strong competitor. It seemed that we could never get him out. When Elliot first became ill, I had the pleasure of delivering the team softball to his home, signed by each and every player in the League. Elliot was openly humbled by this gift. We cried, we laughed, we hugged.

RIP my good buddy.

He was a great softball player. He always wanted to play on my 70’s team…but…He was too young….and died…way too young.
Actually…the last games that He played…He was wearing my 70’s team’s hat. I was hoping for two more years…and then…He could have played on my team. He will have a spot on my team forever. RIP my softball friend…!!!
