Elli Kate's obituary

Elli Kate Harvey Dillon, a beloved long-haired dachshund, passed away on April 20, 2026, at the age of 14.

Born on March 29, 2012, Elli Kate brought joy, comfort, and companionship to family and friends. She nobly supported Megan throughout her years in medical school. Known affectionately as “Dr. Elli Kate,” she proudly posed for photos at Megan’s graduation. When Megan married Brandon, Elli Kate warmly welcomed her new daddy and siblings, loving them as if they had always been part of her world. Fondly known as the “Carline Queen,” she had a special way of making everyone feel deeply loved, especially when they told her how pretty she was.

Elli Kate adored car rides, McDonald’s cheeseburgers, Sonic water with “the good ice,” a variety of treats and jerky, her favorite spot on the couch, and spending time outside—especially when it involved nibbling on flowers. She was her daddy’s constant shadow and had a unique way of communicating her wishes, whether by flipping her water bowl or attempting to unplug the TV at bedtime. She greeted every delivery person with a fierce, protective bark that sounded like a great dane. However, she really just wanted the door opened so they could see how pretty she was and to tell them hello.

She is survived by Megan, Brandon, Nick, Grace, Destiny, baby Lynslee, and her fur sister Barbara Jean, all of whom will forever cherish the unconditional love and happiness she brought into their lives.

Though Elli Kate is gone, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

“Life’s too short not to be happy—and cheeseburgers make me happy.” – Elli Kate
