Ellen was born to Edward E. Hall and Ethel Mae Hall on October 27, 1942 in Bakersfield, CA.

After graduating from the University of California Berkeley, Ellen influenced thousands of students as an educator, mentor and champion of learning. It is estimated she’s poured into over 4,000 students in her teaching capacities alone. Ellen went on to receive her Masters from the University of Denver and transitioned into new roles as Library Media Specialists in Littleton and Texas. She launched a mentoring program at Marcus High School to support the emotional, educational and mental health needs of the students. Countless students would be influenced and embraced by her warm smile and acceptance as they used the resources in the libraries.

After retiring in 2007 Ellen spent her time planning family reunions, vacations and entertaining her grandchildren in her home. Her love of flowers, mountain drives, walks with her husband and serving in her church filled her days.

Ellen was predeceased by her mother and father, Edward Earl and Ethel Mae Hall and her brother Norman Hall and sister in law Gloria and brother in laws Scott O’Dell and Nathaniel Gilbert. They went on to have two children, Andrea Marie Jones and Stephen Edward Salle. They moved their family from California to Colorado in 1976 and then relocated to Texas in 2000 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. In 2011 the mountains beckoned them back home to Colorado.

In addition to being a loving wife, sister, daughter, friend and mother, Ellen cherished quality time with her family. Holidays, meals, camping trips, picnics and BBQ’s is when Ellen’s soul thrived. Throughout her life, she loved well and embraced everyone who crossed her path. Her faith in God and deep belief in his pursuit of her own heart and life led her to leave space for extravagant love and faith conversations throughout her life.

Ellen loved the smell of lilac in the spring, purple and lilac irises and the taste of strawberries in early summer. One of her favorite life scriptures is shared below.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
Psalms 121:1-2
