Ellen's obituary
Ellen Phyllis Madjidi, 72, of East Northport, NY, passed away on January 11, 2025 after a fall at home led to a hospitalization where the doctors stumbled upon a devastating diagnosis of an end stage appendiceal carcinoma/peritoneal cancer that took her life just one month following her fall at home.
Ellen was born on March 12, 1952 to Mary and Eugene Frasca in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating from New Utrecht High School in 1970, she went on to study at Berkeley Secretarial School.
After graduation, she landed her first job as a secretary for the NY Surrogate Court in Manhattan for 17 years.
Ellen put in a personal ad in the Village Voice where she met her "hubby" Feraidoon "Fred" in November of 1986. He thought her hazel eyes were beautiful. They both worked near the Mayor's office and started to have lunch together. Ellen would trash her bagged lunch and they would go share some hotdogs together instead. Some of their first dates included going to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, walks through Central Park, and even her niece's christening where he met the entire (and very Italian) family. After surviving that, Ellen knew he had to be a keeper and the two wed after one year of dating November 11, 1987, and honeymooned down in Key West, Fl., going on to have two wonderful daughters, Nadia and Diana. They were married for 37 years.
Ellen always did things with a smile on her face and never complained, like taking the girls to gymnastics across town on the bus because she didn't drive and Fred worked late so he would pick them up afterward. She always started off her phone calls with, "Everything is fine here!". She was always happy.
Ellen had a passion for crafting. She loved making hook rugs, sequin art posters, and even dabbled in some needlepoint. She enjoyed the daytime soap operas, watching the old classics on ME TV, and always looked forward to her scheduled phone/Skype calls with her friends and family. Ellen especially loved being by the water. She enjoyed long walks at Robert Moses beach, visiting Northport Harbor almost daily, and Port Jefferson where they rode the ferry several times. She also lived for her visits when Nadia would come to town and she could see her grandsons, walk around the mall, and go out to lunch. She also did great to keep in touch with long time friend Gerry and others. We will miss her greatly.
Ellen was predeceased by her parents Mary and Eugene Frasca. She is survived by her husband Feraidoon, daughter Nadia (Brandon) Pearl, her two grandsons Ethan and Aiden, daughter Diana, sister Vera (Ed) Garrett, several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A small private viewing with immediate family was held the day after her passing. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St.Jude Children's Research Hospital in Ellen's name, to help lead the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases...an organization that also held a special place in her mother Mary's heart as well.
