Elizabeth's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Elizabeth "Betty" Viola, on January 25, 2026, at home in Rogersville, Tennessee. Born on July 22, 1938 in Bangor, Maine , Betty lived a meaningful life, filled with love, respect, and memorable moments that etched a path of inspiration for all who knew her.
Betty was the beloved wife of Ralph Viola, who survives her, marking a deep void in his life. As a loving mother, she is also survived by her daughters, Jill (Mark) Viola Friedmann Meyer and Cynthia Viola Wohl, who carry her unconditional love and care within their hearts.
Betty’s legacy will be carried forward by her grandchildren, Beth (John) Meek Ellis, Julie Wohl Eutsay, Matthew Meek, and Valerie (Tim Sundell) Friedmann, and by her great-grandchildren, Ira Sundell, Jaxxon Eutsay, and Hazel Ellis. Her bond with them was not just limited to being their grandmother and great-grandmother but as a friend, confidant, and a guiding force who always showed them the path of righteousness and love.
Betty’s journey up until her passing was not without its share of sorrow. She was predeceased by her parents, Gladys Stephens Ryder and Cecil Ryder, leaving her with memories and lessons that she cherished all her life. The loss of her daughter, Susan Viola Meek, also marked a grievous moment in her life, making her a symbol of strength and resilience for her family.
Even though Betty , is no longer with us, her memory will forever continue to thrive in the lives of her loved ones. The family appreciates all the love and support during this time.
