Pat's obituary
Pat was born in Saline, Louisiana in 1933 to Oval Parks Mayfield and William Mayfield. She graduated from Saline High School. Her life’s journey took her from Saline to Shreveport and then to Bridgeport, Connecticut, where she raised her three daughters. She then moved to Manchester where she spent the last thirty-five years. She worked as a telephone operator, insurance claims adjuster and inspector of aircraft parts but she enjoyed retirement more than any of her jobs.
She fondly remembered her birthplace, Saline, Louisiana, throughout her life and often recalled swimming in the ‘old swimming hole’ with friends Dot and Earline. She loved the times when they would chill watermelon in the shallow water for a later snack. She was known as “Patsy” in Saline but became “Pat” when she moved North. She loved the Northeast for its fall foliage and often took drives just to see the colors.
She had a lifelong passion for reading, painting and women’s college basketball. She was a dedicated fan of the UCONN women’s basketball team.
She is survived by three daughters: Denise Singleton of Nashua, NH, Ramona Singleton of Manchester, CT and Patricia Manfredi of Marlboro, MA; and seven grandchildren: Ariel Krawczyk of Boulder, CO, Ted Krawczyk and his wife, Krystal, of Middletown, CT, Brie Tucker of Nashua, NH, Troy Tucker of Melbourne, Australia , Mallorie Manfredi Krawczyk and her husband, Chris, of Westborough, MA, Matt Manfredi of Marlboro, MA, and James Nilson of Bloomfield, CT. Joe Griffing of Meriden, CT, remains an Important part of the extended family. Pat also has nine great-grandchildren: Lili, Tyler, Stella, and Jonah; Cameron and Jack; and Riley, Ben and Isaac.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Singleton and her granddaughter, Amber Krawczyk Griffing.
