LIZ WAS ALWAYS SMILING AND HAD A CONTAGIOUS LAUGH.   SHE WAS MY DEAREST FRIEND FROM THE TIME WE MET IN 1962 'TIL SHE PASSED.     I WILL LOVE AND MISS LIZ FOREVER.   SHE AND HER HUSBAND MEANT THE WORLD TO ME....LIZ HAD A BEAUTIFUL VOICE WHICH I HEARD BEFORE I ACTUALLY MET HER AT THE 15 BELOW. THAT WONDERFUL OCTOBER EVENING WAS THE BEGINNING OF OUR LIFE-LONG FRIENDSHIP.   SHE BROUGHT MUSIC, FUN, AND LAUGHTER INTO MY LIFE AS WELL AS SHOWING EACH OF US HOW STRONG A LOVING FRIENDSHIP CAN BE.   CONTINUE TO REST IN PEACE, DEAR FRIEND.  'TIL WE MEET AGAIN  <3    SING WITH THE ANGELS.
Shared a heart Red heart

It was Christmas time and a whole gaggle of us went to Norfolk to Phillips Restaurant at Dockside. It's a rather large restaurant and was extremely crowded. We had to wait for about a half an hour, so the whole fam-damly bellied up to the bar at the center of the restaurant to have a couple libations while we waited to be seated. (Probably more than a couple) There happened to be a piano player tickling the keys with some Christmas music a few feet away. It was mentioned to Aunt Liz that maybe she should break out in a Christmas song like Oh Holy night or something. Well it wasn't difficult to convince her so somebody went over and told the piano player that he needed to shut it down for a minute that we had a celebrity over here that was going to break out with one of the best renditions of Oh Holy night he'd ever heard. So please be quiet. If you ever heard her sing Oh Holy night, Aunt Liz had a rendition that was very quiet except for those certain areas that needed emphasis and she began to sing. It didn't take long before people noticed what was going on and before long you could hear a pin drop in this restaurant. It was one of the most spiritual events of my life, It was truly angelic. She finished the song to a rousing ovation, most everyone was wiping away tears and The piano player came over and said her drinks were on the house for the rest of the night. Don't remember how many she had but I think she did okay. This memory chokes me up every time I think of it. It was truly a moment.

I remember going to your parents on one New Years Eve, after the Coffee House closed for the night. Your mom fixed me a southern comfort and coke,  which I sipped all night.  I do not remember the conversatations but I called your dad and Frank M. Fascist pigs. ( this was way out of character for me )They knew I was drunk and egged me on.  I got got frustrated with the arguement and went to be. When I woke up I mentioned  to your mom that I must have had a stomach virus as I got sick and dizzy after I went to bed. Your mom told me that I had had too much to drink, unbeknownst to me she refilled my glass several times. That was the first and last time that I got drunk. I am thankful that it happened in a safe place with loving friends instead of an enviroment, where I could have gotten hurt. I loved your parents very much. They will be in my heart forever.

At 20 years old, I was purchasing my first car, a brand new red 1995 Ford Aspire at Towson Ford, and it was time to go over upgrades and financing. The car I was buying was completely stripped (manual, no A/C, no radio, no speakers) as it was all I could afford for a new car.  Both my mom and dad were with me in that office.  I inquired about having A/C installed, and the monthly payment with that installation was too high for my budget.  My mom, being as selfless and generous as she was, offered to work overtime to help me with the higher monthly payment.  I immediately refused her offer because she already worked so hard as an R.N. to support us.  I will never forget that demonstration of her generosity.

Liz, along with Patches, has a deep place in my heart.  I started hanging around 15 Below soon after it opened. I was a budding folksinger of 14 tender years and I started singing at hootenannies at 15 Below and other place around Charm City.  Patches gave me a job, first bussing tables, then as matre' d and running the light board during performances.

And then Patches and Liz started to pay me as an opening act where I opened for some of my favorite Baltimore folkies like Carole Supp and Bob Sessions.  Liz, having had vocal training, taught me breath control which improved my vocals a lot.  I also learned about performing an engaging an audience.  They also took added me to private functions as an opening act.

Always kind and supportive, my experiences with both Liz and Patches deeply influenced my life.   Such wonderful people.

We are so very sorry for your loss. Liz was an amazing woman who touched so many people. Her legacy will live on in all of our hearts.
What a wonderful, kind, funny, talented person who truly enjoyed giving her talents to others.  She is with her Savior now. I'll miss her. The world needs people like her
What a joy it was to hear Liz sing! Nancy you were the apple of her eye!
I am so sorry to hear of Liz's passing.  I grew up along side of Liz at BCGH. I will always remember her singing in the halls and to patients. She was great to work and a dear friend.  I remember when she sang the Lord's Prayer for a wedding of a patient in the hospital.  She is now with her beloved Patches and no longer in pain. I will miss her dearly.
