Elizabeth's obituary
Elizabeth Bush Horton was born in Harlem New York, along with her twin Brother Eugene on July 2, 1942. Her birth parents were Rosetta Phillips and Eugene Bush, but she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Gilbert and Mary Hill. She was a widow who was married to Reese Horton. Elizabeth had one daughter, Karen, who passed away.
When Elizabeth lived in New York, she lived in the city of New Rochelle and worked on Wall Street. Once she relocated to Florida, Elizabeth worked as a clerk typist and teachers assistant for the Pinellas County School System. After she retired she became active in foreign missions work and also became a chaplain.
Elizabeth was an active member at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, under Pastor William F. Sherman, until health issues prevented her from attending.
To know Elizabeth was to love her! She was a kind, caring and generous woman. Everywhere she went, she left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
In 2022, Elizabeth became a resident at The Oaks nursing facility in Clearwater Fl and passed away peacefully at AccentCare Inpatient Hospice Center at Mease Manor in Dunedin, Fl. Her twin brother Eugene, preceded ded her in death, but Elizabeth is survived by a sister who lives in St. Petersburg, Fl, and a host of nieces and nephews. Her church also became her family. She is also survived, her friend, Sheila who was like a daughter, who was with her until the end.
At the end she was ready to make heaven her home! Rest in peace Elizabeth, “Betty,” “Lizzie,” “Betty Boop.” We will miss you!
