Elizabeth M. Garcia 1942—2020

Elizabeth M. Garcia, 78, of Mesa, AZ, formerly of Dover, DE, passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2020, at Banner Heart Hospital. She was a loving mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend to all she met. She was born in East Setauket, New York to Robert A. Post and Jeanette Dubois-Post on July 27, 1942.

Elizabeth was known to family and friends as "Betty", "Liz" or "Mom-Mom". She was a strong woman who exuded a radiant smile. She was a caring person who loved helping people and took care of everyone who needed help. She cherished her family and friends. She was the person that many would go to for advice, as she was a good listener and then would offer her wisdom. She touched the lives of strangers and friends alike with her humor. She was the light in a lot of people's lives and will forever be missed.

She lived on Long Island in New York for 46 years, before moving to Dover Delaware where she spent the next 32 years. In March of 2020 she relocated to Mesa, AZ where she would live out the rest of her life.

Elizabeth loved reading, playing scrabble, listening to music, and having cocktails. She also loved the beach and everything about it. She loved her dogs. She worked in dry cleaning, record manufacturing, service station leadership, personal protection equipment manufacturing, and as a deli clerk.

Survivors include children Jacqueline Hein (Dave Grimm) of Mesa, AZ, JoAnn Banks of Spotsylvania, VA, and Michael Garcia of Henderson, NV. Seven grandchildren include Casandra Banks, Ashley Hein (William Suggs), David Banks (Ashley), Brittany Hein, Bryanna Garcia, Brandon Garcia, and Nicholas Garcia and she had four great-grandchildren. Sisters Judy Ellis and Barbara Adelwerth. She was predeceased by her parents Robert A. Post and Jeanette Dubois-Post, her brother Robert C. Post, her life partner Luis Garcia and her former husband Jack Douglas.
