Honey and I have been best friends since she got over the shock of seeing me for the first time - I was jumping on her mother's bed, which was strictly forbidden. That was 1948 and I had just arrived with my family from England. For 73 years, through thick and thin, we've shared joys and sorrow, and so much laughter. The world is a poorer place now that she's gone.

I met Honey & Dan thru my aunt Ann Gregory; I believe they were roommates at Westtown? I spent a couple weeks taking care of Sam & Brooke at Lake Paupac, allowing Honey & Dan time to play tennis, sail & spend time together. Later I baby-sat for all 3 kids at the blueberry farm until I left for college. I have many warm memories of that summer, as well as through Deer Creek Friends Meeting. Sending love , hugs and prayers to the Derr family. We so enjoyed seeing Mr and Mrs Derr when our whole family would go blueberry picking. It was such a charming farm and that day was always looked forward to with delight . All the families endeavors to bring wonderful , delicious blueberries and a fun time to families blessed so many . We were so grateful to all the Derr’s ! We pray that the love of family and friends bring you comfort and God’s great love bring you peace.

I have many wonderful memories of Aunt Honey, but the earliest was from the spring of 1959 Westtown Alumni Day when she and a friend took me roller skating in what then was the New Gym at Westtown School. It was a wonderful time and she made it really fun.

I am so sorry to hear of Honey's passing and send condolences from my mother (Rose Takano Hijikata) and our family. My mom cared for baby Honey in California and on the drive east after Elton got my mom and Aunt Miyuki released from their internment camp during WWII, taking personal responsibility for them and their actions. After hearing about her all my life, I'm so glad I got to meet Honey at Arnold's memorial last year. Our thoughts are with her family.
