Walks in the parks and learning about flowers was always my favorite thing to do with Elaine. She taught me how to love nature.

Dear Danielle, Sheri and Jessie, I was so sad to hear the news of Elaine's passing.  We were friends many years ago when she lived in Greenwich. I have fond memories and especially remember her great sense of humor and kindness, as well as her devotion to her beautiful girls. My heartfelt condolences to all the family.
I am so sorry I am not able to see you in person. I'm with Vanessa in Kansas City.  I don't even know how to fully express my sadness now and also my luck at having known and loved your mother. She made everyone she met feel special, with an extraordinary light that she shared generously and joyously.  While the loss is so great, I know this light and this capacity for love and joy will always be a part of you. Sending you all much love.
Sending love to you, Larry, and thanks to Shiri for such a beautiful and  perfect obituary capturing Eliane’s fabulous sense of humor and so many other things about her.  I’m sorry we can’t visit at your home these two nights, but we remain in the deep woods of NH for one more week.

Dearest Dani, Shiri and Jessie,

Your sadness is my sadness.  Eliane was a bright light in my life, as are you three.  I pray that you will find comfort in your memories.

Love from Phyllis Shapiro

Larry

So sorry for your loss. From your ever- loving sedation team at CT Children’s we send our condolences.

Jesse Sturm and Sedation Team

I was lucky enough to have witnessed El’s sense of humor whenever she came to visit Jessie.

Jessie would always ask her to tell us about her standup. I’ll never forget one of the jokes she told was about getting hit by a Prius. Because she could never hear them backing up (or moving forward).

To this day whenever I see a Prius, I think of El and how observant and witty she was. And also what a legend of a woman to be doing something like standup later in life.

Rest in peace El. Your spirit, sense of humor, and warmth will be sorely missed.

PS I promise to take care of Jessie, always.

Dear family

I will always remember Eliane and her special intuiton, tolerance and love for humanity

I got to know Eliana when she became a facilitator for the Confronting Anti-Semitism program of ADL. Given her background as a 2nd generation Holocaust Survivor, she was an asset to the program. We also developed a personal relationship and shared our experiences with love and loss. I was so happy for her when she found her new life partner.  May she rest in eternal peace.
Eliane was a lovely and vibrant soul. Rachel and I will miss her beautiful smile and positive outlook. We are grateful that we were able to spend time together and see how happy she and Larry were as a couple.
I am so sorry to learn that this sad time has come to pass.  I am very grateful to have spent time with Eliane and to have shared Danni and Kate's wedding with her and her lovely family.  I only met her briefly but will always remember her fondly.  Quite the lady!  We will miss you!

Shiri, Jessie and Dannie,

Your mom…she was amazing. That word doesn’t do her justice. No single word could. She opened her home and her heart to me at a time when that stability gave me a lifeline I needed. I will forever be grateful to her. She, like her mother, was admirably sharp witted and warm at the same time. Eliane was an incredible woman and I’m fortunate to have known her and been welcomed into her life. Thank you for sharing her.

Ronaldo joins me in sending our love to Danielle, Shiri and Jessie.

Please accept our hugs and kisses

I am so saddened to hear the news of the passing of Eliane.  She was such a wonderful, caring lady.   She always took the time with a beautiful smile to come say hello and asking me how is my mother.  The caring she showed to her mother was beautiful.  She will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

I first met Eliane when my good pal Larry, who was dating her, introduced Eliane to me and my wife, Nancy.  I was so very happy for Larry, who deserved to have a love partner in his life.  I can only describe her as a "pistol", with endless energy and wit.  We were thrilled to be at their wedding and to share in all the nachas with their children and  grandchildren.

Eliane, Larry and I shared a common Holocaust history and we were all part of Voices of Hope, of which Eliane was a very important leader.  Eliane was such a good daughter to her mother, Gisela z"l.  She brought her to West Hartford and always included her mother in everything in which she was involved, and took care of Gisela until her passing.

Although we are very saddened by her loss, Eliane lives on in the hearts of all who knew her and especially in the hearts of her wonderful family.

We will miss Eliane, our adventures together, our talks and just spending time together. A very special moment I will never forget was about a year ago when Eliane said to me, "George, no matter what transpires, I want you to know I love you".  And that will stay with me forever.

Deep heartfelt condolensces to Larry and the "Zemler" Family from both Nancy and myself.
