Eldon's obituary
Eldon Ralph Hubbard, 89, of Stockton, Missouri, passed away April 19, 2026, at Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs, Missouri.
He was born July 22, 1936, in Lakin, Kansas, the son of Virgil and Edith (Barber) Hubbard.
Eldon was raised in Lakin, where alongside his six siblings, he helped raise cattle and farm. He graduated from Lakin High School in 1954, where he participated in football, basketball, and track.
He served in the Kansas Army National Guard from the late 1950s to the mid-1960s and was honorably discharged upon completion of his service.
He was married to Sheri (Millsap) of Syracuse, Kansas in 1959. Together they raised two children, Crystal and Glenn. Originally living north of Lakin, they moved to the ranch south of Kendall where he continued ranching, putting up hay, and attending his kids’ many sporting events.
In 1986, he moved to Stockton, Missouri, where he met and became a longtime partner to Carolyn “Susie” Price for more than 38 years and was a part of her extended family. He later worked as a truck driver for many years before retiring.
Eldon will be remembered for his strong work ethic, dry sense of humor, and his self-described nature as “a little ornery.” He enjoyed horses, westerns, warm weather, and simple, hearty meals. He enjoyed country - western music and would blast Sons of the Pioneers to wake up Crystal and Glenn in the early mornings prior to working cattle.
He is survived by his daughter, Crystal Kelly (Gerry) of Milliken, Colorado and their kids Cody and Mike; his son, Glenn Hubbard (Jill) of Olathe, Kansas and their kids Brennan, Brian, and Erin; and extended family, including many nieces and nephews. He was also “Papa” to Susie’s six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Claude Hubbard, Vernon Hubbard, and Lawrence Hubbard; and three sisters, Norma Jean Hornbaker, Carolyn “Kay” Anderson, and Glenda Amerine.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Eldon’s memory to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation (www.macular.org)
