TRIBUTE TO A LEGEND: LATE PIUS OLANREWAJU IGE
(Doyen of Insurance | Leader | Philanthropist | Pillar of the Celestial Church of Christ)
With a heavy heart, yet with gratitude to God for a life of meaning and impact, I pay tribute to Late Pius Olanrewaju Ige, a man whose footsteps will not fade quickly from our hearts. His transition is painful, but his legacy is too strong to be silenced by death. We mourn, yes, but we also celebrate a life that truly mattered.
Pius Olanrewaju Ige was a doyen of insurance—a man of competence, credibility, and uncommon professionalism. He carried the industry with honour and earned respect not by noise, but by consistency, integrity, and results. He believed that true leadership is not a position; it is responsibility—and he lived that truth. Many careers were shaped by his counsel, and many futures were strengthened by his support. He did not merely succeed; he lifted others into success.
Beyond his professional excellence, he was a leader and a philanthropist in the purest sense of the word. He gave—not for applause, but because giving was part of his nature. He helped people both far and near. He saw needs and responded with compassion. He understood that humanity thrives when someone chooses to be a blessing. In him, kindness was not an occasional act; it was a lifestyle.
Personally, I cannot forget him. He brought me to Equity Assurance, and that opportunity became a significant blessing in my journey. That single act reveals the depth of his heart: he was a destiny-helper, one of those rare men God uses to open doors for others. He believed in people, made room for them, and stood by them. For that, I remain deeply grateful.
In the household of faith, he was more than a member, he was a pillar. He was a strong voice and a steady hand in the Celestial Church of Christ, a man who progressively dedicated himself to the work of God and the advancement of the Church. His service was not seasonal; it was steadfast. His commitment was not partial; it was wholehearted. He offered leadership, counsel, and support, and he did it with the reverence of one who truly feared God.
What made him exceptional was the harmony of his life: professional excellence, human compassion, and spiritual devotion; all flowing together in one man. He served humanity and served God. He built people and strengthened the Church. He lived with purpose and left with honour.
Today, we feel the emptiness his departure has created. A voice has gone quiet. A fatherly presence has been withdrawn. A dependable hand is no longer physically among us. But even in our tears, we hold on to this truth: a life of impact never truly dies. His good works will continue to speak in the lives he touched, the doors he opened, the people he mentored, and the faith he upheld.
To his family, may God grant you supernatural comfort and strength. To the Celestial Church of Christ, may the Lord console and uphold the body of Christ. And to all of us who were privileged to know him, may we honour him not only with words, but by continuing the values he lived for—service, integrity, generosity, and faith.
Farewell, Late Pius Olanrewaju Ige.
You served humanity. You strengthened the Church. You gave hope. You lifted destinies.
You have finished your race within God’s given time, and suddenly, the clock ceased
Sleep on, noble leader and philanthropist.
May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace, and may light perpetual shine upon you.
