TRIBUTE TO A LEGEND: LATE PIUS OLANREWAJU IGE

(Doyen of Insurance | Leader | Philanthropist | Pillar of the Celestial Church of Christ)

With a heavy heart, yet with gratitude to God for a life of meaning and impact, I pay tribute to Late Pius Olanrewaju Ige, a man whose footsteps will not fade quickly from our hearts. His transition is painful, but his legacy is too strong to be silenced by death. We mourn, yes, but we also celebrate a life that truly mattered.

Pius Olanrewaju Ige was a doyen of insurance—a man of competence, credibility, and uncommon professionalism. He carried the industry with honour and earned respect not by noise, but by consistency, integrity, and results. He believed that true leadership is not a position; it is responsibility—and he lived that truth. Many careers were shaped by his counsel, and many futures were strengthened by his support. He did not merely succeed; he lifted others into success.

Beyond his professional excellence, he was a leader and a philanthropist in the purest sense of the word. He gave—not for applause, but because giving was part of his nature. He helped people both far and near. He saw needs and responded with compassion. He understood that humanity thrives when someone chooses to be a blessing. In him, kindness was not an occasional act; it was a lifestyle.

Personally, I cannot forget him. He brought me to Equity Assurance, and that opportunity became a significant blessing in my journey. That single act reveals the depth of his heart: he was a destiny-helper, one of those rare men God uses to open doors for others. He believed in people, made room for them, and stood by them. For that, I remain deeply grateful.

In the household of faith, he was more than a member, he was a pillar. He was a strong voice and a steady hand in the Celestial Church of Christ, a man who progressively dedicated himself to the work of God and the advancement of the Church. His service was not seasonal; it was steadfast. His commitment was not partial; it was wholehearted. He offered leadership, counsel, and support, and he did it with the reverence of one who truly feared God.

What made him exceptional was the harmony of his life: professional excellence, human compassion, and spiritual devotion; all flowing together in one man. He served humanity and served God. He built people and strengthened the Church. He lived with purpose and left with honour.

Today, we feel the emptiness his departure has created. A voice has gone quiet. A fatherly presence has been withdrawn. A dependable hand is no longer physically among us. But even in our tears, we hold on to this truth: a life of impact never truly dies. His good works will continue to speak in the lives he touched, the doors he opened, the people he mentored, and the faith he upheld.

To his family, may God grant you supernatural comfort and strength. To the Celestial Church of Christ, may the Lord console and uphold the body of Christ. And to all of us who were privileged to know him, may we honour him not only with words, but by continuing the values he lived for—service, integrity, generosity, and faith.

Farewell, Late Pius Olanrewaju Ige.

You served humanity. You strengthened the Church. You gave hope. You lifted destinies.

You have finished your race within God’s given time, and suddenly, the clock ceased

Sleep on, noble leader and philanthropist.

May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace, and may light perpetual shine upon you.

C.C.C Holy-Saviour Parish London, you worship with us on the 31st and the first New moon service, not knowing we won't see again. We spoke after the service hoping to see you the following Sunday, but I was told you went to your parish, the next thing I heard, is that you have gone back to your maker. It is been difficult to write, God knows best. The painful part of it is that I did not do what the Lord asked me to do for you during the thanksgiving, though, I  dusted your  body with amure due to what I saw, but hoping to do what I was  asked to do the following Sunday.  Since I heard the news, I am unable to forgive my myself, saying may be if I have done what the Lord told me to do for you on that day, instead of dusting you with amure and also thinking  you will worship with us the following  Sunday that I plan to do the spiritual  job for you, may be you could still be with us, but God know best and when the time comes, no one can stop it.

Though, you occasionally come to worship with us as your house opposite our parish, always  wearing brother sutana and seating  at the back roll.  Though, our only conversation is Halleluyah when you do come to worship with us, but on your last visit (worship) we us which was the first New moon service of this year, was first time we actually spoke properly. After the service, you came to me  to  give you alter water to drink, which I did, afterwards, you asked me what the church needs, we even spoke about my going to Nigeria for the roofing of our new parish in Nigeria, which you asked me to send you my account details for the roof project. Though, dead took you away, but I know that your acts of love and worship shall speak for you. Though I did not  know much about you, but I have seen and heard about your good deeds. When I phoned your wife, the first thing she told me was your discussion with me and waiting for my account details and the needs of the church.  I will forever cherish the little time we have interacted,  as I was about told your love for our parish and myself. I remembered  the very first time you worship  with us, after the service you called and wanted to bless me with money, I  refused to take the money at first, your exact words to me was 'she mo to lati fun e lowo'  meaning  I am not in position to give you money?  After a reflection, I took the money from you, you were so happy that I took the money from you. It was two £50 , you also asked your  wife to give me £1000 during our harvest thansgiving service.  During our last church Christmas, even though you are not a member, you gave the church £250, also bought the drinks. I pray that the good Lord shall be  with your family that you left behind.

I must say this, people that were close to you, really let you down spiritually, but we must accept and leave it to your creator to judge.  Rest in perfect peace, Oluso Dele Bareck

(Earth’s Loss, Heaven’s Gain)

Dear Beloved Family,

On behalf of the Senior Shepherd, the Elders’ Council, the Parochial Committee, and the entire congregation of CCC Yemetu Mother Parish, I write to commiserate with you on the passing of our dearly cherished Elder Pius Olanrewaju.

We deeply share in your grief at this crucial time. Truly, it is a painful loss; yet, as Christians, we rejoice in the assurance that Elder Pius Olanrewaju served God faithfully with all that the Lord entrusted to him during his lifetime.

His immense contributions to the growth of the Celestial Church of Christ worldwide cannot be forgotten. Among them are his dedication to the cherished Basilica at Imeko and his tireless efforts in fostering unity and synergy among the Elders and the Pastor in Council.

We recall with reverence his last activity in church during the Sunday service preceding his transition. The way he danced joyfully before his God during the thanksgiving was a clear testament of his readiness to join the saints in glory.

Alagba Pius, your good deeds are countless, and you have left behind a legacy that will be difficult to replace. Your departure has created a vacuum, but your memory and impact will continue to inspire generations to come.

May the Lord comfort your family, strengthen the church, and grant you eternal rest in His bosom.

Yours in Christ,

TRIBUTE TO A GREAT LEADER

The Pioneer Staff of Polak Group, Port Harcourt, extend our deepest condolences to the family of our dearly beloved Chairman, Pius Olarewaju. We share in your grief and stand with you during this season of profound loss.

Pius Olarewaju was a man of vision, discipline, and uncommon leadership—a true builder of men. Beyond his role as Chairman, he was a father figure, mentor, and guide whose impact on our lives remains immeasurable. Through his counsel, high standards, and unwavering commitment to excellence, he shaped our thinking, strengthened our confidence, and prepared us for leadership, responsibility, and success.

His influence went far beyond the workplace. He invested personally in people, challenged us to grow, and was never satisfied until those around him were thriving. The values he instilled—hard work, consistency, integrity, and purpose—continue to guide us long after our time under his leadership.

We pray that the Lord grants the entire family strength, peace, and comfort during this difficult time. As beneficiaries of his life and leadership, we ask that God preserve all he left behind and uphold you with His unfailing grace. Please know that his memory lives on through our lives and through the enduring legacies of excellence, service, and character he established.

TRIBUTE TO ELDER PIUS OLAREWAJU

My Oga, as I fondly called you, I have been struggling with the reality of your transition to glory since the incident occurred over 10 days ago.

Our paths crossed about 35 years ago in the course of insurance business transactions. The business relationship metamorphosed into friendship and later transformed into an employee - boss relationship.

There are leaders and there are leaders but you were distinct. You were a teacher who was interested in the personal growth of your colleagues. You were diligent and always interested in lending support to people who would perform their assigned tasks with discretion and requiring a little or no supervision. Oga Pius, you were a go-getter and that was partly responsible for your numerous successes in life. You were resilient. You were kind. You were loving. You were a servant of God. You were .......I thank God for everything you were.  At the end of our  employee -  boss relationship,  our friendship continued and you  didn't relent in giving  me support in my career.

Time will fail me to tell of all your attributes that I have learnt in the last 35 years. To many of us, you returned to your creator at a time most people never expected. However, we have a consolation that your departure time was set by God, the all - knowing and there was nothing anyone could do about it because you fought a good fight, you finished your course and you kept the faith.

The word of God further says that "blessed are the dead which die in the Lord ..... that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them ".

Adieu, my friend and my boss.

Baba Pius Olanrewaju, You've done your best Sir, Rest well in the presence of Our Maker,

Just to let you know that you are well loved and will be sorely missed by many of us that knew you. You are a Good man with a beautiful heart Sup Evang Pius Olarewaju.

Good night and may your soul rest in perfect peace.

Prophet Dele Barek (CCC Holy Saviour Parish UK)

Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the spirit, they will rest from their labour.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Uncle Pius Olarewaju, good night and rest well.

A O PADE LESE JESU LOJO AJINDE.

M/C Funmi Awosika (UK)

You’re a worthy personality that cannot easily be forgotten even when you left this sinful world. I believe and trust you’re resting now with your maker. May the soul of the departed rest in peace Elder Pius Olarewaju.

Adieu .

Prophetess Sade Bakare  & family

Some people walk into our lives quietly, yet their presence becomes so strong that their absence leaves an unfillable vacuum. Elder Pius Ige Olarewaju was one of such men in my lives of many. He was not just a name, not just a title, not just a leader in the Church, he was a friend, a dependable ally, a man of principle, courage, and uncommon integrity. His departure has left a deep ache in many heart.

As a friend, he was honest even when the truth was uncomfortable. He was loyal without being blind, bold without being arrogant, and generous without seeking applause. He stood with those he believed in, defended the truth even when it cost y peace, and remained consistent when many chose convenience over conscience.

Personally, I will forever miss his counsel,  calm confidence, firmness, and his unwavering sense of justice. Conversations with him was never empty. He always  speak thoughtfully, listened attentively, and acted decisively. In moments of fear, he gave courage. In moments of compromise, he stood for what was right.

Death has taken him from my physical presence, but it has not taken his voice, his impact, or lessons. His name will continue to be mentioned in truth, not propaganda. His story will be told in sincerity, not distortion. His legacy will remain a reference point for integrity in church leadership and service.

My friend, Elder Pius Ige Olarewaju lived well, served faithfully, stood firmly and now, resting peacefully.

You are a friend I will forever miss and cherished. Although, I am presently shattered and still empty😭. But you are also a legacy I will forever honour. If coming back to this world, I will still choose you as my good friend and confidant.

Jagaban himself as I used to call you, rest well my friend in the blossom of your creator till meet to part no more.

Your friend

VSE Tunji Dabira Bakare.

My condolences to Elder Pius's family. I first met Elder Pius in 1979.

My beloved friend, Otunba Pius Ige Olarewaju’s first appellation was “Director,” before he later became Director of Directors, Chairman, CEO, etc. He was a very amiable personality. He was very jovial and enjoyed laughing and bonding with friends. He was outstandingly generous, right from the start.

Otunba Pius and I lived together as school mates. I visited him in Kaduna, in Portharcourt and later in Lagos. He was my BestMan in 1996!

He was a very brilliant, innovative and visionary leader. He was a highly successful entrepreneur and an iconic Insurance Giant. He loved real estate investments and was exceptionally successful. To put it simply, everything he touched was gold! He excelled in philanthropy. It is still hard to believe he has left us so soon. Nevertheless, he has left an indelible footprint in the sands of time, and posterity will surely remember him as a man who ‘came, and saw and conquered.’

We will truly miss you, Pius. Adieu, my beloved friend, and brother. Rest in peace!
