Eileen's obituary

On Sunday, December 27th 2020, Eileen Louise Tucker (née Lembright) loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 93. Eileen was born on June 20th, 1927 to Charles and Inez (née Drew) in Los Angeles, California and grew up in nearby Maywood. As an adolescent she was active in the Maywood Baptist Church and graduated from Bell High School.

Eileen met her future husband Lyle, a US Navy veteran in 1947 at Maywood Baptist Church. Together they moved to Pico Rivera where they purchased a small plot of land. After taking an architectural class at a local community college, Eileen designed the house that she and Lyle built together and raised their daughters in; a house that she proudly laid every brick in. She still resided in the house until shortly before her death.

Together, Lyle and Eileen built a wonderful life in Pico Rivera. Eileen was active in all of her daughters exploits and always welcomed all of their friends and acquaintances, many of whom called her mom.

Eileen had a life long love for the California Mojave Desert, which started when she and Lyle joined their local rock club, The Delvers. She spent many of years cruising the desert in the custom sand railer that Lyle built, searching for rocks, exploring the desert, and shuttling other hounders. She and Lyle were also avid jewelry makers, creating beautiful jewelry from silver and cabochon from the rocks they found in the desert.

Eileen had an incredibly sharp mind and a love for history. She enjoyed talking to anyone that would listen about her various trips and adventures throughout life. We all lovingly joke that she never met anyone who was not a friend. Even more outstanding than her intelligence was her attitude and outlook on life in general. She faced every obstacle in life with resilience, positivity, and grace. Although faced with some serious medical challenges, such as losing her eyesight 30 years ago, she never complained about the situation she was in. She was inspirational to all of those who were around her.

She was preceded in death by her adoring husband, Lyle, brother Harold, and loving son-in-laws Emele Halton and Bob Johnson. She is survived by her three devoted daughters, Christy Margiotta (Angelo), Kathy Halton, and Jan Johnson; grandchildren Audra Tabbert (David), Ashley Robello (Mark), and Scott Margiotta; and great-grandchildren Tucker Jones, Evelyn Robello, Elaney Robello, Andrew Tabbert and David Tabbert. She will be dearly missed by her family and extended family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to George Mark Children’s House georgemark.org
