Eileen's obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Eileen "“Gracie”, “Sissy”" Michaels, 59, of Murrells Inlet, SC. Eileen passed away unexpectedly on May 19, 2022, after a brief illness.

Eileen, born to John and Marilyn Michaels, took her first breath on February 09, 1963 . Eileen was a force to be reckoned with from the get go, graduating from St. Benedict Academy, Pittsburgh, PA,  in 1981 . She briefly pursued a theater degree and was involved in community theater as a young adult. While Eileen never married, she lived a full and vibrant life with more friends than you could count. Working her way from cashier to manager at numerous Walmart Stores over 20 years, Eileen made a deep impression on all she worked with. Her compassion, generosity, and cracking sharp wit were legendary with both her coworkers and her family. Giving to those near her in need was a hallmark of her life. Her 13 nephews and nieces meant more to her than words can describe, and she rarely if ever forgot a birthday. She was known as the “gift whisperer”, for she had a keen sense of just the right present at just the  right time.

Moving from Pittsburgh, PA to Edinboro, PA to Greenville NC to Murrell’s Inlet SC , Eileen was always in search of a better opportunity within the Walmart system.  She eager to achieve retirement and begin to enjoy the fruits of all of her years of hard work.

We will miss her dearly. She was taken too quickly and too young, but we trust in God’s Mercy and know that she will never be forgotten by her friends, family and coworkers (who were also family to her).

Services will be held at St Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Murrell’s Inlet, South Carolina, on June 7, 2022  at 9:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St Jude Children’s hospital to which she was a long time donor. And to carry on her generosity, consider a donation to the ACNT, Associates In Critical Need Trust, a fund administered through Walmart for associates facing life crises.
