Eiko "Grace"'s obituary
Grace’s early years were shaped by her upbringing as a military child, raised with love and faith by her parents, David Sr. and Chiyo Coble, alongside her seven siblings. After graduating with honors from Jefferson Local High School in Dayton, Ohio, she embarked on a career in administration. It was during this time she met Nathan Perry, and after six months of courtship, they married on July 2, 1977, beginning a 47-year journey of love and partnership.
Grace was devoted to her family, leaving her corporate career at Procter & Gamble to focus on raising her five children. She instilled in them a love for learning, creating summer homeschool programs and ensuring they stayed engaged in education year-round. As a grandmother to seventeen, Grace’s warmth, playfulness, and love turned ordinary moments into lifelong memories. Whether playing games like Scrabble and Uno or sharing stories, her presence was a source of joy and connection.
Her commitment to ministry was unwavering. Grace relocated to Maryland to support the ministry work at Macedonia Church of God, founded by her in-laws, Bishop Geanie and Mother Ruth Perry. Later, she co-founded Refreshing Springs Church of God in West Chester, Ohio, where she played a key role in its growth and development. Grace’s faith was a guiding light throughout her life, encouraging her husband to leave his corporate career to serve in ministry full-time. Together, they led and nurtured their congregation with love and dedication.
Grace’s influence extended beyond her family and church. She was a pillar in her community, founding "Joy School," a Christ-centered preschool alternative, and volunteering as a homeschool teacher, Girl Scout leader, and Junior Achievement mentor. Her service was a living example of the biblical principles she held dear—caring for the sick, feeding the homeless, and fostering children. In her later years, Grace served on the board of NyNi Inc., a non-profit dedicated to maternal and infant care.
Grace’s love, wisdom, and grace touched countless lives. Her infectious laughter, radiant smile, and compassionate spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Bishop Nathan Perry; her children, Nathan II (Myla), Aaron, Areiko (Steve), Camille (Jontue), and Anthony; her beloved grandchildren; and a large extended family of siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, David Sr. and Chiyo Coble; her brother, Phillip Coble; her in-laws, Bishop Geanie Perry Sr. and Mother Ruth Perry; and her brothers-in-law, Geanie Lane Perry Jr., The Honorable Judge James Cannon, and Russell Lewis.
Though we grieve her absence, we take comfort in knowing that she is at peace with her Lord and Savior. Grace would say, “Do not be sad, for I am with Jesus, free from pain and heartache. Take comfort knowing that I have received my reward, and I look forward to walking with you in Heaven one day.” Her life, filled with faith, love, and service, remains an enduring legacy for us all.
