Egg's obituary
It is with raw tenderness that we announce the passing of Egg Spinks, born on November 14, 2010, and departed from the earth plane on November 3, 2025. A vibrant and no-nonsense individual, Egg's presence imprinted an indelible mark (along with the occasional bite mark) on the lives of all who knew him.
He relocated from Temple to Austin, Texas in 2020, a move that signaled the beginning of a new chapter in his life and legacy where he moved in with his new guardians, Kadie Spinks & Justin McCollor. Or was he their guardian? Either way, the feeling of home was felt.
In his retirement, Egg created Club Beluga (https://www.instagram.com/clu…) alongside his mama, an organization for animals of all shapes and sizes to come together under one roof and receive love in equal measure. As Director at Club Beluga, Egg shaped the institution with his unique vision and steadfast leadership. One of the principles he lived by and taught others is that Sharing (their food with him) is Caring.
A dog of varied interests and passions, Egg loved spending time at home and at the mail room, where he'd find treats hidden in a glass jar. He loved dining on all types of food but held a particular fondness for turkey, salmon, chicken, beef, sweet potato, banana & human skin which he enjoyed licking the salt off of, especially when his mama had friends over at her monthly drama improv club.
Egg's taste in music was as refined as his personality, with Chopin being his go-to indulgence. He lived his life on his terms with a 'my way or the highway' attitude. He was unapologetic about who he was, loving fiercely and expecting the same in return (through gifts (treats & puzzles) and acts of service (home-cooked meals)).
Through his life, Egg shared many valuable lessons, including the importance of unconditional love, the necessity of setting boundaries (Egg had teeth and wasn't afraid to use 'em), overcoming adversaries (his archnemesis: Joey, the poodle next door & anyone on a bicycle -- slow down already!!), and ultimately, the prevailing power of a simple kind of love -- demonstrated through steady companionship.
As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the life of a truly dynamic being who taught us all to live on our own terms and to love fiercely and unconditionally, both ourselves and a few trusted others. His spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those he left behind. We love you so much, Egg!!
