Jacob was the protector cousin. In the eyes of little me, he wasn’t scared of anything. When I was scared to walk down the stairs of our Nana and Papaw’s house, he taught me how to “sled” down them and make my jaw chatter. I remember doing that countless times with both of us cracking up as our jaws clanked. At the bottom of the stairs he would always press a finger to his lips so we could listen for Nana as we were shaking with laughter. When we went to see movies in the summer, I was often scared and Jacob would be there to hold my hand. As we grew older, I no longer needed a protector and I began to look up to Jacob and his many achievements. This time, he became the encourager. He was absolutely brilliant. Having any length of a conversation with him would show that; but at the end of the day, he was still the encourager for other people to have success even if those paths were different than how he found it. He was always incredibly selfless and kind. The last conversation that I had with Jacob was a couple weeks ago and in that conversation he took the role of encourager in my life one last time. I am grateful for that conversation and every time that I have had the privilege of sharing a laugh with my sweet cousin. I love you for eternity Jacob. You are so greatly missed.
So heartbroken for all of you!  I pray that God  is now holding him close and giving him the peace he was looking for!
