Fritz was one of a kind. He made a lasting impression on everyone he met, and has left quite a legacy behind. He was preceded in death by father Alois, mother Therese, sister Theresa, brother Ray. He is survived by brother Paul. He was the devoted husband of Mary Ann for 57 years. He was the loving and supportive father of Jeff (Laurie), Lynn (Joe), Julie (Johnny) and Tim (Tina). He was Poppa Fritz to grandchildren Kyle (Chloe), Jaime, Jenna, Maddie, Frankie, Jesse, Taylor, Gabby and Will. In 2019, he became a great grandfather to Reese. The pride of Millvale (Pittsburgh), PA, he was a product of North Catholic High School and Duquesne University, where he made lasting impressions on the basketball and baseball teams. After college, he served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and had a strong run as a pitcher in the minor leagues for the Boston Red Sox before returning to North Catholic as a teacher and coach. He then joined Kraft Foods for a long, successful career that ultimately brought his family to Chicago. He’s a former resident of Alison Park, PA, and Cincinnati, OH; as well as a longtime resident of Hanover Park, IL. He spent his later years in Palm Coast, FL, and then East Dundee, IL. Poppa Fritz will be honored on Feb. 22 with a “Celebration of Life.” Please join us from 1-5 p.m. at the VFW in West Dundee, IL. (See Events or Memories tab for more information.)
