My sincere condolences to the Wick family at the passing of a beloved Father. Grandfather.
Marshall was a great friend and I first met him when he was in Toronto in the late '60's. Since we were both Deafened he was easily able to understand what life was like before our hearing losses. He encouraged me to become involved with the Ontario Association of the Deaf OAD and also other events for the Deaf. I remember meeting Linda when Marshall worked for the IOF (Independent Order of Foresters) and their children at that time. We had great conversations and he had a lot of interests in doing things to help the Deaf. I remember the time when he was involved with his work advocating for Closed Captioning on TV for the Deaf community. When he moved to the USA to take a position at Gallaudet College (our alma mater) we still kept in touch by email.
There are people who live in Ontario that had Marshall as their Professor and were in touch with him after they graduated. If there is a Celebration of Life planned I would be interested in attending if possible. And others I know might be as well.
His life was a blessing to many and he will be greatly missed.

What a beautiful obituary about a beautiful life, so well lived. I met Brother Marshall when I was a boy. My Sister Linda chose him as her life partner…one of the best choices she ever made. He was an ongoing adult male role model in my life (though my Father & I couldn’t have been closer). He influenced me from an early age with his consummate involvement with family. He constantly showed up with compassion. His planning for family events was so fun. He had a calm clarity, even as the family kept expanding & multi-generations bounced off the walls in his presence. His communication skills were the best. He spoke at Dad’s memorial service. SPOKE. A deaf man speaking to a crowd, to honor Pop.
Love & Blessings to you Brother Marshall. Thank you for being in our lives.
