Up until last August I was the activities director at Ocean Hills. Initially I worked only in memory care, and your dear sweet dad quickly became my favorite resident. Although he couldn't communicate all that well, we would sit together and read The Union Tribune and then talk about what we'd read, as best he could. He always got a big smile on his face when he saw me. He enjoyed showing me photos of his family when I would visit with him in his apartment. I'm so sorry he's gone. He was a good man.

I have good memories of Ed and his involvement with and support for Boy Scout Troop 801 during the late 80s and 90s, sponsored by Sacred Heart Church in Coronado.

As a Scout Master, whenever I needed something, Ed was there. Even though his own son had grown out of the Troop, Ed continued to help as a member of the Troop Committee. I recall Ed lending us his 5 gal bucket of weight belts very summer for our a camping trip to San Clemente Island, which helped our scouts who were learning to spear fish.

My sympathies and condolences to his family.

With Deepest Sympathy to all the Vasely family! Ed was such fun to be around, always laughing and telling great stories. He loved his "Jeannie" and was so proud of, ALL, his children and grandchildren. I'll never forget watching Pete's Ceremony, when he made Vice Admiral, on the DVD at Ed's home. Ed had a smile on his face ear to ear that brought tears to my eyes. A, priceless, memory! RIP, Ed. Until we meet again. All my Love!

My Deepest condolences to the Vasely family. So sad to hear of Ed’s passing. I can remember fondly Ed taking me upstate to the family camp on Lake Eaton as a boy. We would leave on Friday nights when he got off from work when he worked for Grumman. We would travel many times together and would leave me for the week to spend time with the Vasely family. I can remember him telling stories about the Adirondacks and how he built the family house on the lake. When Ed retired from Grumman, I can remember in 1978; the day the family moved from Yonkers to San Diego and waving goodbye as the family packed up the station wagon and communicating with them on CB Radio, on their way out west. I was very fortunate to have the Vasely family as my neighbors and we became great friends. He will be missed dearly. Rob Bertona
