Background
Dad suffered from Parkinson's and Parkinson's dementia for several years. In his last years it was debilitating enough that Dad had to give up living in his home independently. He has enjoyed excellent care first at Sienna in Chula Vista and for the last, almost 2 years, he's been at Ocean Hills Senior Living Memory Care Unit.
Dad served as a docent on the Midway for over 8 years. He has always loved ships, having served in WWII as a Coast Guardsman. He served on the USS Joyce. During his career, he worked on building Navy fighter Jets. Working on the Midway was a joy for him and he was so respected by those who visited the museum when they found out about his military service.
The Wounded Warrior project was close to Dad's heart. He appreciated all members of the military, in all branches. He knew of their heroism, their love of country, their dedication and their extreme sacrifices and how difficult it was for some to acclimate to their former lives when they returned from active duty. He knew how much they needed our help. Contribute to Uss Midway Museum
