Edward's obituary
Edward Harry Perkins, 71, of Holly Hill, Florida passed away on February 17, 2022 after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Ed was born on September 8, 1950 in Jersey City, New Jersey and grew up in Oak Ridge, New Jersey where he attended Jefferson Township High School. He was the son of the late Franklin and Genevieve Perkins.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Lynn Perkins, two daughters Tamara Perkins and Alicia (Shamus) Surless, four grandchildren Johnny Williams, Tyler Williams, Alexa Surless and James Surless, brother Thomas Perkins, and many loving nieces, cousins and extended family. Ed was preceded in death by his brothers John (Jack) Baier and Franklin Perkins.
Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved spending time with his family and friends, boating, playing guitar, singing karaoke, attending local baseball games, and taking pictures of flowers. Ed had an entrepreneurial spirit. He worked in the automotive industry for many years before becoming a real estate agent in New Jersey. After moving to Florida in 1990, Ed transitioned from being an agent to a business owner that specialized in property investments. He enjoyed the thrill of the business for many years and the company was recognized as Corporate Citizen of the Year by the City of Holly Hill. Throughout the years, Ed was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Elks Lodge, the Loyal Order of Moose and the Sons of the American Legion. Ed loved the social aspect of these organizations, but he also loved giving back by volunteering at events and by being a chaplain for the American Legion for several years.
Ed was a fun-loving man who brought joy and laughter to parties and family gatherings. He also had a kind gentle heart and was always ready to lend an ear or a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
