Edward's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edward “Ed” Douglas Misera, 63, on April 2nd 2023 at Ridge Meadows Hospital ICU, with his family and close friend by his side.
Ed was born on December 20th 1959 to Josef and Dorothea Misera in Vancouver, BC. His parents came to Canada from Germany in 1957 with eight of their children. After settling in Canada they had three more children, Ed being number ten of eleven. Ed grew up in the greater Vancouver area and eventually settled in Pitt Meadows, where he and his wife raised their family. He is survived by his wife Vicky, daughters Gabriele and Katrina (Trevor), grandson Colt, siblings John, Eberhard, Dorothy Kirchner, Norbert, Gabriele (Wayne) Young, Bodo (Janey), Sabine Carleton, Ulrike (Marcel) Beauchamp, Tom (Ele), Roland, and many nieces and nephews.
Ed worked construction his whole adult life, up until he retired at the end of 2021. He spent decades working at FEMO Construction Ltd, which he referred to as his second family. He had nothing but the utmost respect for the people he worked for and with over the years. Ed loved his job, he loved pouring concrete and working on high rises. He often talked about the thrill of being so “high and free in the air”.
Ed lived life his way, on his own terms, whatever that meant for him in the moment. He was funny, compassionate, unique and had a big heart. He loved his family and friends and would do anything he could for them. Ed was always willing to help others and never expected anything in return. He was very social, made friends easily and enjoyed talking to people. Ed was one of a kind. He will be forever loved, remembered, and sorely missed.
