Edward's obituary

Please help us celebrate the life of Edward Kalenda.  Born on January 15, 1934, he left this life peacefully on March 4, 2026.  He was a man of few words, preferring action to too much talking.

Ed was born and raised in Morgan Hill, CA, and lived the first half of his adult life in San Jose, CA, where he raised a family of six children.  He was proud of his work as an industrial plumber, and was a long-time member of UA Local 393.  He loved outdoor sports including camping, fishing, boating, waterskiing, hiking and off-road jeeping.  Once retired, Ed and his wife Doris spent several years enjoying summers in Alaska and winters in Mexico, where he was able to fish almost every day.  Their full-time RV travels were punctuated by hikes with the Sierra Club, square dance outings and occasional volunteering with Habitat for Humanity.  When they decided to stop travelling, they settled down in Oceanside, CA, where Ed lived out the rest of life in sunshine and comfort.

Ed leaves behind his loving wife Doris Risser Kalenda, five surviving children, four step-children, eleven grandchildren and his first wife, Josephine.

A remembrance of his life is planned for Saturday, April 11, 2026.
