My uncle Ed was a teaser…he had a fun spirited sense of humor and a contagious smile!  As a child I always looked forward to their winter parties with snowmobiles and a huge bonfire.  The one time he babysat us while my parents were out of town he tried to make me finish all my dinner and, when as a stubborn child, I refused….he hung a sign on the wall saying I hadn’t finished my dinner and hung it just high enough I couldn’t take it down :-) I didn’t appreciate it then but loved hearing the story as an adult.  He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
When our mother wanted Ed, she sent me out to find him.  Ed would decide it was a good time to take a nap  and he would be sleeping in many places. He  could be sleeping on a park bench, in a closet, under his bed or numerous other places. Ed was between 4-5 years old in city of Pittsburgh.

Ed ‘Sandalman’ Nuss, a great friend, a very good person, along with Evon, the love of his life, reminds us the importance of true friendships.

Sandalman leaves a legacy of his own, which can never be duplicated. And while we hated to see them leave the Island, we know they carried their goodness and happiness to north Texas, and realizing our loss then was to be other good people's gain and that is as it should be.

And now we all share in our collective loss with family, friends and all loved ones.

May Ed Rest In Peace!

We three nieces, Julie, Shelly and Suzanne were spoiled by Ed & Evon (aunt & uncle) , as were all of their many nieces & nephews, but those two were rarely referred to as their appropriate title because they felt so young to us.  We have such wonderful memories from when we were young. Deer Park, Camping, Lake Michigan, etc.,  One of my favorite things were being called “The Three Yucka Sisters”.  We walked into our Grandparents house and he would greet us as,  “There’s Yucka #1, Yucka #2 and Yucka # 3”. If you know Ed, he was funny and very lovable-we loved our nicknames because it was out of love that he called us that. He and Evon also gave each of us nieces and nephews a Christmas tree ornament every year and I always looked forward to their gift-something small, but very special! He will be very missed! Love to you always “Aunt” Evon.

Love, Julie-Yucka Sister #1, oldest sister

We have never forgotten the funny fact that Ed hated mashed potatoes. He and Evon joined us for a holiday dinner one year. Whatever I was making for that dinner, it included mashed potatoes. Somehow it came out that Ed didn’t like them and fortunately I had some small red potatoes that I cooked for him. During dinner he told the story of eating mashed potatoes for lunch as a child and he grew to hate them, maybe from eating them so much. He would put the mashed potatoes in the pockets of his jeans and his mother would think that he’d eaten them! We have told many others about our neighbor who used to put mashed potatoes in his pockets.

I’m sorry for your loss. Evon…
I’m sorry for your loss. Evon. Ed was always so kind and helpful.  The best neighbors ever.  He will be missed.

Our sympathy to you, Evon, on the loss of your sweet husband.  May you know God's peace and comfort as you grieve.  The Kline Family

Evon, You & Ed shared a wonderful life together.  I will always be grateful for his willingness to help me with my lake home.  I will miss his kindness and his teasing way.  I'm so thankful for the memories we made with him and can reflect back on now to help us through the emptiness his passing has created.  He will be missed by Jeff and me.
