Loretta's obituary

Loretta "Ditty" Weir, passed away peacefully and content with her life on February 25, 2023, after a long battle with Diabetes.

Ditty was a force of nature, determined to provide for her family and friends. Originally born in Jamaica she came over to the United States, Mount Vernon New York as a teenager determined to make use of all opportunities. She would always say "what good is learning something If I don't use it"? Her huge family meant more to her than anything else, something she often mentioned and constantly reminded them all. She was exceedingly proud of her two children Kemani and Loreal. Ditty was a high-spirited woman, who decided to pursue nursing towards the end of her fulfilling life as she battled against diabetes. Anyone who knew her knew that she was the most loving person, brave and blunt.

She did not want anyone to feel sorry for her. Ditty's personality infected all the people within her radius, but she was not scared to tell you how it was. She held no punches. Ditty asked her brothers to make sure everyone celebrated her life rather than mourn. She also wanted to be cremated so she would be amongst her "family and the stars" as she put it. The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to 324 East 4th Street, Mount Vernon New York 10550. There will be a memorial/celebration of life on March 1, 2023, at Memorial Field, Mount Vernon, New work. There will be a private funeral service on March 11, 2023, at New Rochelle Church of God, New Rochelle, New York.  Please attend with high vibrations, for that is what Ditty would have wanted.
