Edward's obituary
He attended St. Philip’s College then served 3 eras of the Vietnam War as part of the first ever 44th Medical Brigade. He went on to work for the city of Dallas, then later an owner-operator in Oakland, CA. Before retirement he spent much of his time as an independent courier, church usher, and mentor to youths. He went by many nicknames, such as “Mack, Papa Ed, Mcgee, and Pops.” Ed liked to share stories, life lessons, and converse about politics. He enjoyed the simple things in life, like a spicy plate of spaghetti, smooth jazz, having guests over, or detailing his new whip. When life got hard, Ed stuck it out. When things looked dire, he always looked at the brighter side and remained calm and understanding. He brought joy and laughter to everyone he had the pleasure of speaking with. Such a great man will never be forgotten, for he will always be in our hearts and our memories. We won’t say goodbye, but instead “See you later.” He is preceded in death by his parents Lois Howard and Myrick M. Gafford Sr. He is survived by his brother, Myrick Jr “Son” (Charlene) Gafford; sister, Kitsye “Mit” (Maceo) Johns; daughter, Stacy (Darren) Gafford; son, Levi (Monica) Gafford; daughter, Angela (Tony) Nabors; and son, Edward Jr. (Amber) Gafford; son, Tracy (Le'Tanya) Mitchell; and daughter, Kimberly (Jai) Taylor
