Edward John's obituary
It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Edward John Borchard, who left this world on August 28, 2025.
Edward was born in Oxnard, California to Robert and Louise Borchard in Ventura County, where the Borchard family had settled after migrating from Germany. His life was deeply shaped by this heritage, by the land he worked, and by the strong sense of family and community he carried throughout his years.
A beloved farmer, musician, and friend to many, Ed lived a full and colorful life grounded in family. Known for his warm spirit and easy laugh, he was loved by many and always quick to make a friend wherever he went.
He cherished animals, especially his poodle, Tobias, whom he affectionately called "Scooter Pie". Their bond was unbreakable, and Tobias continues to look for him, a reminder of just how deeply he was loved.
A gifted musician, Ed could play nearly any instrument he picked up. Some of his kids' favorite memories are the times spent jamming together, filling the house with music. He also passed along his love of the outdoors, teaching his children how to swim, ski, and surf, sharing the thrill and beauty of nature.
Above all, Ed will be remembered for his big heart, his sense of humor, his generosity, and the joy he brought to those around him.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Roxanne; daughters Mason, 31, and Milly, 30; brother Bob; son-in-law Timothy and step-grandson; his faithful poodle, Tobias; many friends and extended family.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church in Woodland. Guests are encouraged to wear purple — Ed's favorite color.
