It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of  our beloved mother,  Mrs. Edna Byrd, who left us on the 31st of January, 2024. Born on the 8th of March, 1935, Mrs. Byrd spent her 88 years of life with grace, devotion, and an unwavering love for her family.

Edna married Edgar Byrd on October 8, 1949 and they had three children.  They loved and supported each other for 74 wonderful years before God called Edgar home.

Edna is pre-deceased by her loving husband, Edgar Byrd, her parents, three brothers and two sisters.   She is survived by her three children, Richard Byrd (Teresa), Denise Smith (Kent) and Jill Anderson,  her five grandchildren, Kelly, Jennifer, Michelle, Brandi and Russell and eight great-grandchildren.

Edna's simple pleasures in life drew many people towards her. The aroma of her morning coffee sweetened with exactly one teaspoon of sugar was a reminder of the comfort found in routine. Her penchant for hydration throughout the day was noticed by all, her glass of water never far from reach. 

Laughter and spirituality were harmonious in Edna's life, often intertwining in the form of her beloved gospel hymns. Actively involved in her church, she welcomed each day with a heart full of song, leading the morning worship with infectious enthusiasm. Her faith was an unshakable pillar in her life, exhibited by her treasured possessions - her Bible and weekly Sunday School lesson.

Communications with her loved ones were Edna's cherished pastime. The anticipation of daily phone calls from her family members and close friends brought immense joy and comfort. Her son Richard was a constant figure, visiting her several times a week, bringing her breakfast and lunch. The weekends held a special place in her heart as they brought with them the cheerful visits from her daughters, Jill and Denise, who'd share the highlights of their week and prepare one of Edna's favorite meals. 

She embodied her greatest accomplishments - living her life for Jesus and her unfaltering love for her family. Her life was a testament to her faith and the depth of her love, qualities that she extended to everyone she knew.

While we mourn the loss of Mrs. Edna Byrd, we also celebrate a life well-lived, marked by devotion, grace, and a boundless capacity to love.

A Celebration of  Life will be held  at Calvary Baptist Church  located at 10310 Chapel Hill Rd. Morrisville NC 27560 on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
