Ned would be dismayed to attend his own memorial service if it were grim and sombre. Please bring your favorite stories and come have a good, uplifting time to celebrate a life well lived and a man well loved.

Although I haven’t seen or spoken with Ned for many years, he and I go back to fourth or fifth grade in Egg Harbor City, NJ. I had always enjoyed drawing and felt reasonably competent until a new boy moved into town from Tennessee.
That new kid was Ned Jacob and even though I quickly realized my severe limitations as an artist after seeing his astounding abilities even at that young age, he and I became very good friends, involved with field archery, hunting and exploring around the area. Our paths diverged when we graduated from Egg Harbor City high school along with 72 classmates in 1956.
The local archery club was the primary focus of our activities and we and spent many Sundays traveling around South Jersey visiting different clubs for competitions. No animals were ever harmed as a result of our hunting efforts but never-the-less, everyone involved enjoyed themselves. Thankfully putting food on the table did not depend on our hunting prowess.
Ned set out on his wide-ranging journeys after graduation and I briefly tried college before spending four years in the USAF, oddly enough being stationed for my last year on a remote base close to Marrakech, Morocco and the Atlas Mountains, an area where Ned traveled and painted for a while.
The time Ned and I spent together after graduation was limited to a few hours at a couple of high school reunions, with the last one probably being at least 25 years ago. This year will be the 70th and another one I will miss since my wife and I now live in Texas and who wants to travel much these days?
Ned’s artistic talent, drive, personality, intellect and enthusiasm for life were evident many years ago as well as throughout his life. I feel very privileged to have had him for a friend, if only for a relatively short time many years ago. I shall never forget the great times we shared and his friendship! It was wonderful knowing you Ned. Many thanks my friend and safe travels.
