Edmond's obituary
Edmond “Ed” Hendrickson was born on September 28, 1948, in Missoula, Montana, to Clifford and Blanche (Howell) Hendrickson. He grew up in the close-knit community of Charlo, Montana, where he developed the strength, resilience, and sense of service that would define his life. After graduating from high school, Ed proudly joined the United States Marine Corps and served courageously in Vietnam. His service to his country remained one of his greatest honors, and he carried the dedication and discipline of a Marine with him throughout his life. Following his Marine Corps service in Vietnam, Ed joined in the United States Army Reserves, serving with the 385th Combat Support Hospital. He served for 20 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his time with the 385th, Ed made many friends, several of which shared the bonds if service in Vietnam. Following his military service, Ed moved to Spokane, Washington, where he enrolled in the Deaconess School of Nursing. It was there that he met the love of his life, Marsha Sell. The two married on June 18, 1972, beginning a beautiful life together. Ed and Marsha later settled in Davenport, Washington, where they raised their four boys—Lyle, Zane, Blane, and Wylie— instilling in them the same values of family, hard work, and integrity that guided Ed’s own life. Ed continued advancing his medical career by attending Medex Northwest achieving his Medex Certification followed by Physician Assistant School at the Univerity of Washington. He went on to serve as a dedicated PA for many years, working in Davenport, Spokane, and Ephrata. He was respected and admired by colleagues and patients alike for his steady presence, compassionate care, and genuine kindness. His commitment to helping others touched countless lives over several generations. He was affectionately referred to by co-workers and patients as Edwardo, Edmundo, or Doctor Ed. Ed put the leadership skills acquired during his military service to use in his civilian life, serving as the mayor of Davenport for 12 years. Ed enjoyed leather work and with Marsha ran Ed’s Custom Leather for several years. Ed also enjoyed woodworking where he spent many hours building steamer trunks, cabinets, and custom pens. He also enjoyed fishing with his friends and sons, and although many trips involved more fishing than catching. Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Blanche; and his sisters, Linda and Leslee and brother Donald.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Marsha; his sister Bev; his brother Chuck (Marie); his four sons Lyle (Brenda), Zane (Lisa), Blane, and Wylie (Kelly); and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride. Ed leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and unwavering devotion to his family and community. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Davenport.
