Edie's obituary
Edwina "Edie" Sue West, 62, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021. Edie was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Edie wished to be cremated and buried with her parents.
Edie was born in Topeka, Kansas, on April 16, 1957. Her father served in the Air Force and was stationed in Spain and Japan during her childhood. After the military, the family moved to Missouri, where she lived the rest of her life.
Edie worked as a realtor for many years and then worked as a CNA for St. Luke's East Hospital and Western Missouri Medical Center. She also spent time raising her children and running a daycare at home. Edie loved animals and enjoyed breeding Shelties as a hobby.
Edie met the love of her life, Ken West, at Lee's Summit High School. Ken and Edie were married for 43 loving years and gave birth to two children. Edie is survived by her family; husband, Ken West; son, Jason West; daughter, Jessi McCubbin; son in-law, Wes McCubbin; two grandsons, Ethan and Eli McCubbin; sisters, Karen Mills, Sharon Paulson, and Ronda Duckworth; her nieces and nephews; and many more family and friends. Edie is preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Sheila Mills.
Ken and Edie moved to Warsaw, Missouri, and retired on Truman Lake. She enjoyed hosting family and friends to enjoy sunny days on the pontoon, floating in the cove while laughing and sharing stories, cooking large meals, and late night bonfires. She was a rock for her family and was always there to offer advice, whether they wanted to hear it or not.
The family wishes to send prayers and thanks to all of the doctors and nurses at Lee's Summit West Hospital, as well as Saint Luke's Hospice House.
