Rick's obituary
Edgwin "Rick" Simpson passed away at the age of 80, on May 17, 2025. He was born on October 20, 1944 in Lakeland, FL.
He is survived by his daughters Kimberly Simpson and Deanna Crane, sister Marty Tallent, granddaughters Ara and Christiana Crane, grandson Christian Crane. Rick was predeceased by his father, Edwin Simpson, and his mother, Dorothy Simpson, and granddaughter Baylee Simpson.
Rick was of the Episcopal faith. He was an avid supporter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Florida Gators. He enjoyed playing Bridge and was a passionate golfer. His favorite spots to unwind and rejuvenate were beaches, and he held a strong commitment towards causes related to veterans. He loved dining out and loved his sister's southern home cooked meals
Rick was a man who never met a stranger and had the remarkable ability to strike a conversation with anyone on any topic. His charm and down-to-earth nature won him many friends and acquaintances.
Some of his greatest accomplishments included his 20 years of service in the US Army from which he retired, and his travels around the world. He was deployed at SHAPE headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, served in Korea, and was stationed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War.
Rick leaves a legacy of kindness, generosity, and love of family. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him. His vibrant personality, spirit of service, and love for his family will be remembered fondly.
