Edgar's obituary
Mr. Edgar Macarthur “Mac” Davis, age 80, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025, in Winchester, Virginia. Born on September 8, 1944, in Tazewell, Virginia, Mac lived a life defined by dedication to family, service to his country, and a love for hands-on craftsmanship.
From 1964 to 1967 Mac served honorably in the United States Army. He was stationed in Hawaii as an E4 SPC security personnel specialist during the Vietnam War.
Mac had a lifelong passion for mechanics and classic cars. Whether restoring vintage vehicles or tinkering in his garage, he approached every project with enthusiasm and skill. He also enjoyed collecting coins and listening to bluegrass music, pastimes that brought him joy and peace.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia Smith Davis; sister Irma D. Mitchell and her husband Leslie of Tazewell, Virginia; his son Eddie Davis and wife Emily of Tazewell, Virginia; his daughter Joanne McMahon and husband Stu of Alberta, Canada; and grandchildren Elaina and Edison Davis, Colton, Tucker, and Layton McMahon.
He is remembered by Virginia's daughters, Melinda Gail DeBell and husband Christopher of Sterling, Virginia; Deborah Kaye Sturrock of North Port, Florida; Sandra Stone of Round Hill, Virginia; loved by grandchildren Eden Studley and husband Terry, Joshua Kenst and wife Brenda, John Stone III and wife Jessica, Matthew Stone and wife Jessica, Amanda Edwards and husband Devin, Lily Grace DeBell, Christopher Sturrock, and Alyssa Sturrock; and cherished by great-grandchildren Zayde, Luna Rae, Willow Studley; Kacey, Jaxson, Jayson, Joseph Kenst; Oliva Stone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard William Davis and Florence Martin Davis; brothers Howard, Robert, Hyter, and Albert Davis; and sisters Wanda Miller and Edith Stevens.
His wife and family would like to extended a special thank you to his caretakers, Deborah Sturrock and Melinda DeBell, along with her husband Christopher. As his primary caretakers, they showed selflessness in the ability to leave their homes to care for Mac and Virginia for the duration of his illness. Special thank you to his end of life care team from Blue Ridge Hospice. Seara and her team delivered exceptional care. Their kindness, support, and knowledge was evident with each visit. May his memory bring comfort to all who loved him.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 2:00p.m., at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Virginia.
