Eddie's obituary
Sergeant Eddie Montoya, United States Army, age 73, of Richmond, Texas passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. Eddie was born on November 17, 1949, in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Rodolfo and Josie Montoya.
Eddie Montoya was married to his beloved wife Stella Montoya and just celebrated their 31st anniversary on September 27, 2022. Together they have a combined family of six (6) children; Yvette Quintana (Andrew), Shannon Vasquez (Abel), Leroy Montoya (Helen), Eric Rivera (Anita), Jeremy Rivera. Fifteen (15) grandchildren; Shawn, Brittny, Cameron, Ashley, Michael, Julian, Joshua, Joaquin, Mario, Gabriel, Christopher, Jacob, Isabella, Marissa, Mia and ten (10) great grandchildren; Aubrie, Kennadie, Jeremiah, Jasmine, Elijah, David, JT, Amiyah, Ares, and Ozzy. He is survived by his brother Frank (Pancho) Montoya and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son David Montoya, parents Rodolfo and Josie Montoya, sister Cecilia Baca and sister Virginia.
He started his military career in the United States Airforce in 1969, where he served in the Vietnam War. He then continued serving in the Army National Guard serving in Santa Fe, NM and Houston, TX, where he retired on November 17, 2009. He was also employed with the Santa Fe Public Schools and State Government in New Mexico and retired from the Sugar Land Texas schools on January 31, 2013.
Upon retirement Eddie was able to focus his time on his love of woodworking, where he built and shared his skills with many. He was a diehard Houston Texans fan and loved all his pets. His favorite past time was riding his CanAm motorcycle. He was very loving and well respected by many. He will be deeply missed by his family, neighbors, and friends. As Eddie would say, ‘we all love you ‘Big Time’, Eddie’.
