Edd Dean, Sr., 90, of Lakewood Ranch, FL, passed away on July 05, 2025 after a short illness.

Edd was born in Lakeland, FL on June 24, 1935 to Edd Waylon Dean (1911-1990) and Lillian Ruth Wilson Dean (1915-2004). An only child, he grew up in Lakeland. After graduating from Lakeland High School in 1953, he went on to study for a year at the Florida State University. He then joined the U. S. Army and spent three years stationed in Germany.

After returning home, he landed a job as a teller at the First National Bank in Lakeland. Edd’s career progressed as he was promoted to Controller and then Vice President/Controller of Florida Citrus Mutual. He remained with the company for thirty-eight years and retired in 2000. 

Active in the community, Edd volunteered for the American Heart Association for many years, coached Edd, Jr. in little league baseball, served as a deacon at several churches, and also served on HOA boards in Lakeland and Lakewood Ranch. He loved fishing, playing and watching golf, and cheering for Florida State Football and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  He was happiest spending time with his family.

Edd is survived by his beloved wife, Rebecca Bond Dean, children Angie Dean Mendez and son-in-law Eric, Tracy Dean Buttermore and son-in-law Steve, Edd Dean, Jr. and daughter-in-law Kelly, along with 6 grandchildren—Zachary Mendez, Jordan Glotfelty, Hannah  Jenness, Claire Mendez, Payton Dean, and Colton Buttermore—and 3 great-grandchildren—Jackson, Isla and Evelyn Jenness.  He was preceded in death by his parents Edd and Lillian Dean and his wife Ginny Newbern Dean.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that you make a donation to the American Heart Association or your favorite charity in Edd’s name.

There will be a celebration of life service and light lunch reception on September 24 at 11:00am.   Church For The ONE - Family Ministries Building,  4730 Lakeland Highlands Rd,  Lakeland FL  33813.  Please RSVP if you plan to come.
