Earl's obituary

Earl Ray Smith, 75, of Farmington Hills, MI, passed away on November 17, 2021.  Earl was born on March 28, 1946 to Vance and Flossie Smith in Detroit, MI.  Earl met Gayle Gazzeny when they were 14 years old and they wed in 1965, going on to have two children, Douglas and Amanda. Earl was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved by working as a construction contractor/worker.  His  whole family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of his grandchildren Katherine, Rebecca and Vivian Teeples and always tried his best to teach and support them. Earl was also passionate about the outdoors and could often be found fishing or hunting when he wasn’t at home.


Anyone who knew Earl knew that he was the most loving brother, uncle, papa, father and husband a family could ask for. Earl was predeceased by Vance Smith, Flossie Smith, Lark Smith, Ramona Smith, Alma Jenkins, Jesse Smith and David Smith. He is survived by wife Gayle Smith, children Douglas Smith and Amanda (Jeremiah) Teeples, grandchildren Katherine, Rebecca and Vivian Teeples. Siblings Art Smith, Rose (Chuck) Eickoff, Sharon Fischer, Shirley (Bill) Yates, Victoria (Kirk) Kohn, Elvis Smith, Marty Holt , Frank Smith and numerous nephews, nieces  and cousins. The family requests no flowers but notes can be send to 32060 West 10 Mile Rd, Farmington Hills, MI 48336.  There will be a memorial service on November 30th at 5:00pm at Rosedale Gardens Presbyterian Church 9601 Hubbard St, Livonia, MI 48150.
