Earl John (E.J.) Penewell, 74, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away May 14, 2023 at Kaiser Fontana. EJ was born in Beloit Wisconsin on February 21, 1949. He moved to California in 1978 but regularly went back to Beloit to visit his family and friends. He especially enjoyed the class reunions when he could catch up with old friends, many of whom he has had since grade school.

He met his wife, Teddi, in California and they would have been married 31 years on May 16th.

Until his retirement, E.J. and Teddi worked together as Safety Specialists in a company they started in 1991.

E.J. loved to watch and play sports. He was a life-long Green Bay Packers fan and always looked forward to football season. E.J. is remembered for his big smile lighting up the room as he entered and how he loved his family and friends.

E.J. is survived by his wife, Teddi, daughter, Joe’d Cook; son, James Eunice; granddaughter, Ashley (Rene) Barajas;  grandsons, Justin Cook and Ethan Kriebs.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Helen Penewell Freiderich; father, Earl V. Penewell; sister, Joyce Howard; brother, Richard Penewell and daughter, Lisa Penewell.

His ashes will be scattered at sea near Huntington Beach. The ocean held a special place for E.J. and he would walk the HB Pier almost every day until he moved to Lake Elsinore. There will be a Celebration of Life for family and friends from 1 - 4 PM, June 24, 2023 at Lake Elsinore Calvary Chapel, 107 N Riley St, Lake Elsinore, CA 92530.
