Earl's obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Earl McDonald, who peacefully departed this life on March 30, 2026. Born In Minnesota on July 15, 1944, Earl lived a vibrant and fulfilling life, his legacy as bright as his love and commitment to his family and his work. 

Earl is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Cathy McDonald, and his cherished children and grandchildren; Jennette Crum (husband Nathan) with Liam and Marcus, Nicholas McDonald (wife Gina), Elizabeth McDonald, and Catherine Walsh (husband James) and children. Earl loved spending time with his grandchildren later in life. He is also survived by his brother, Gary McDonald (wife Mary) and his sister, Sharon Rupp. 

A lover of the finer things in life, Earl had discerning taste and a zest for life that was infectious. He counted good wine among his favorite indulgences and was known to enjoy a round of golf in his leisure time. A skilled pianist, he was even in a band and both grandson's loved to hear him play. He also loved Ivy, his favorite dog, who would often sit on his lap and keep him company.

In his professional life, Earl was a highly respected and accomplished electrical engineer in the Aerospace and Defense industries. His significant contributions to his field were not only evidence of his prowess but also of his unwavering commitment to his craft. Many of his contributions are still classified. 

Earl built a beautiful life together with his wife Cathy. He often delighted in sitting in the back yard he helped design, listening to the fountain and soaking in the saguaro and mountain views. He treasured the adventures over the years and will be deeply missed by his wife, all his family, and friends. Earl's love for life, his family, and his unyielding dedication to his work will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. If you knew Earl, you know he loved dessert.
