I met Christine shortly after moving to Rochester for a job with Conservation Minnesota and on our first meeting, I felt like I had known her for years. Over my eight years in town, she was a beloved friend, a trusted mentor, and a person I had nothing but the highest respect for. Her fun demeanor, combined with her incredible intellect and talent, on top of a warm spirit, made her one of my favorite people--not just that I met during my time in Rochester, but that I have met in my life. I will miss her terribly and treasure our talks about the world, policy, family, and womanhood. She was a kind and supportive soul through some very difficult times and I am forever grateful for her faith, and interest in me. Her impact on the community cannot be overstated and I know I will not be the only person who will miss her greatly. My thoughts are with her family and close friends.

I was so sorry to hear about E. Christine's passing. We served together on CUDE (CITY OF ROCHESTER COMMITTEE ON URBAN DESIGN AND ENVIRONMENT). Christine's advice, vision, and personality helped formulate the direction and thrust of CUDE.

I am so sorry to hear. I met Christine at the Rochester art center Clams event in ~2013. What a gem. I then learned that she designed in the 1990s our beautiful three season porch on 10th Ave SW with prior owners. I searched for her this week to consult on future work would like to do with her. My sincere condolences to her family and friends. A lovely creative person who openly shared her talent and heart.

I want to thank Christine's daughters for reaching out to me with this tragic news. I worked with Christine for several years as well as enjoyed her company at social functions. I admired her curiosity and tenacity as well as her intellect and accomplishments. Christine was skilled at penetrating past the polite, social barrier that so many people erect, and therefore, she and I became fast and confident friends. There are several treasured, private moments that come to my mind when I think of my friend, Christine. Most of all, I loved to hear her spontaneous, hearty laugh. God bless Christine and her family. I hope the poignant memories you share warm your heart until you are reunited again.

I was so shocked and saddened to learn of Chris’ passing only hours after getting a family email that she was sick. Of my husband Larry Roe’s 46 first cousins, she was one of my favorites. First meeting 45 years or so ago we connected over our mutual love of architecture and design but her value of family, family history and the network of connection that created was the binding glue of many of our interactions. She always knew someone that she felt could add to my life on the topic of the moment and wanted to connect us. Her penetrating focus was at times uncomfortable but her sincere interest in knowing all you cared to share was flattering. She was so sharp and witty and laughing with her till the giggles overcame all else will be memories I treasure. Sharing the cabin at Bay Lake last summer, we had the best conversations in the small quiet hours at both ends of the day, usually with either a cappuccino or glass of wine in hand. She was so wonderful with and to my children. I am so heartbroken for Astrid, Marit and Howie and know the huge role she had in the lives of all her siblings and their kids. My condolences to all of you in particular. I will miss her tremendously. A light has certainly been extinguished in the world.

Christine was a delightful, kind soul! I knew her in our Rochester Ladies Bookclub for years. The obituary captures her meaningful life and joyful spirit so well. May you find peace in the memory of her love for all of you.

Sometime in the late 1970's, my then boyfriend and later husband Charlie Roe Vernon introduced me to his cousin Christine. She was funny, quick, and just as creative and quirky as Charlie. Over the years, she was always compelling to talk with and kind to me. Wherever they are now, I imagine Charlie and Chris sparkling together. My condolences.

I knew Christine during the time I served as a City Council member and sat on the CUDE committee with her for several years. I loved the passion and talent she shared, definitely making an impact how development in Rochester would affect our environment. An amazing person and gift to our city.

I met Chris at Commons, where we both worked in the fall of 1974. She was a freshman and I was a sophomore. I was captivated by her radiant smile, like many others were. We have stayed in close contact over the years, and she shared her diagnosis with me in April. I just found this obituary this morning. She had not responded to recent texts, and I was worried this was why. I am so sorry for your loss. Keith Babcock

Christine sparkled. While our visits were not frequent over the years, when they occurred they were lively, interesting and thought provoking. She was so kind, intelligent, keen and curious about the world around her. Conversation was rarely about herself. I will always remember her laugh, it was pure joy. I was blessed to see her more often in the past year and will treasure those times. I had no idea she was ill and am heartbroken. My condolences to her family.
