Dwight's obituary

Dwight Derry was born on April 16, 1933, and passed away on March 9, 2025, surrounded by his family. Known for his kind, smart, silly, and lovable personality, Dwight left an unfillable gap in the hearts of those who knew him. His legacy, one of love and humor, will be cherished by his family and friends.

Dwight is survived by his son Richard (Billy) Derry, daughter-in-law Martina Derry, and their children Cameron and Brendan Derry, and Anna and Alli Griffin, as well as his daughter-in-law, Fran Derry and her children Shane, Kathryn, Shannon, and Charles Derry, his wife Amanda Derry and their daughter Riley. Dwight was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Derry, and son, Steven Derry.

A lover of anything sweet, a good puzzle, his cat Shadow and anything he could fix, in his younger years Dwight was always very active. His favorite sports team, the Boston Red Sox, led to many happy memories of watching games with his family.

Dwight loved company and to be surrounded by his family and friends. He frequented Dunkin’ Donuts, where he spent countless hours and many laughs with his buddies.

His favorite place was the beautiful Cape Breton Island, a destination he visited frequently with his wife, kids and grandchildren. Dwight’s face always lit up when he talked about these trips. The wonderful memories he made there will remain in the hearts of his family and friends.

Dwight Derry will forever be missed by those who knew him. His love, humor, and wisdom will continue to be told through the generations of the Derry family.
