Dwayne's obituary

Clifford Dwayne Jones

Born April 6, 1958 | Reborn January 13, 2025

Dwayne, age 66, of Shelbyville, TN, passed away on January 13, 2025. He was surrounded by family who loved him deeply and held him close until the end.

Born on April 6, 1958, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Dwayne was best known for his tender heart, his enthusiastic volume while watching sports (which earned him the nickname “Megaphone”), his Christian faith, and his desire and ability to make people laugh. He loved God, music, and Michigan sports, wearing the colors of all his passions with pride.

He is survived by his daughters Crystal Phinney and Misty Bourne and their mother Carol Jones; his grandchildren Calista Phinney, Weston Phinney, Leon Bourne, Merrek Stamps, and Evelyn Stamps; his brother David Jones; and a host of other souls his love touched. He was preceded in death by his father, Shirley Jones; his mother, Aleta “Jane” Anderson; his stepfather, Roy Anderson; and his brother, Dwight Jones.

Services will be held on Friday, January 17, at 1pm (viewing from 11a—1p) at Hillcrest Funeral Home (1802 Madison St, Shelbyville, TN), with burial to follow at Bethany Church Cemetery (2804 Bethany Church Rd, Normandy, TN). During the service, the family invites anyone who would like to share a memory, a reading, or a personal reflection about Dwayne to do so, whether impromptu or prepared in advance. The family asks those attending to wear the colors of Dwayne’s favorite Michigan sports teams (red, white, blue, gray, and orange) rather than black to reflect the loud and lively way he lived out his passions and values.

We take comfort in knowing Dwayne is now celebrating the greatest victory of all, eternal peace, from the best seat in the house.
