Duster's obituary
Duster Ritchie
July 14, 2011 – July 9, 2025
With profound sorrow and broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved miniature pinscher, Duster, just five days shy of his 14th birthday.
Born on July 14, 2011, in the closet of his human mom’s childhood home, Duster entered the world cradled in love and left it the same way—gently held in his mom’s arms as he took his final breath on July 9, 2025. His passing comes just four days after the loss of his mama dog, Brooklyn, making the weight of goodbye all the heavier.
Duster was more than a pet—he was family. He was there before the children came, standing loyally by through every move, every heartbreak, every new beginning. He was the first baby in the house, a steadfast companion to Heather and Matt, and a proud big brother to Juliet, Lacey, and Ellie. From the moment they brought their first child home, Duster seemed to understand his new role, watching over the growing family with love and devotion.
He had a big personality packed into a small body—forever in search of food, never one to turn down a ride in the car, a lover of late mornings curled up under the blankets, and always happiest by the side of the people he loved. In winter, he wore little jackets; in the car, he had his own seatbelt. He traveled to the beach, most recently just last month, and was always treated like the cherished soul he was.
Duster’s presence filled the home—his absence now leaves it achingly quiet. He was a comfort in sorrow, a partner in joy, and a constant through the chaos of life. The depth of his loyalty and the gentleness of his spirit will be missed every day.
He is now reunited with his mama and his brother, running free, belly full, ears flopping in the breeze, wrapped in the warmth of love that will never fade.
You were so, so loved, Duster. And you always will be.
Rest easy, sweet boy.
