Duke's obituary

Duke Willard Swallow Jr., beloved husband and father, took his final breath on March 26, 2025, leaving behind a rich legacy. Born on August 7, 1948, in Greenville Texas to Duke Willard Swallow Sr. and Maudie KaDell Medlin Swallow. Duke's 76-years were filled with a love for life, touching many hearts with his friendship, music and jokes.

His life was filled with many great experences and growth.  He had a great love for his family. He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years Marie Elizabeth Casey Swallow, sons Kenneth William (Teresa), and Kevin Gray, and daughter Kimberly Marie.  He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 20 great grand-children.   There are also many nieces and nephews with fond memories of Uncle Duke and his great sense of humor and jokes.

Duke worked many diverse jobs throughout his life including time in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war were he was able to spend time in Japan. He worked in the computer industry, worked as a long haul trucker and finished his working career as a security guard.  Whereever he went he made friends and entertained those around him with his talents on guitar and singing. He spent many happy hours singing for others to entertain and bring people together.

In these moments of loss and sadness, we remember Duke's exceptional life. He will be forever missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he left behind.  We are having a Celebration of Life for Duke on April 25, 2025.  The celebration will take place at the Quitman LDS Church,  1128 East Goode St. Quitman, Tx 75783, from 6-8 pm.
